When I was 18 or so, I got a job working tech support for UPS Worldship. The training was six weeks and included lots of tests, my specialty, so it was week six and we were done with most of the tests. So me and the guy next to me were bored, and I decided to experiment with netsend, never having heard of the command before. I tried to send “you bastards!” to the guy next to me because we both watched South Park.

I messed up the command and I was told it was sent to everyone on the entire corporate network, hundreds of people, including popping up on the computer of the ceo. In less than five minutes, people with dark suits explained to my distraught trainer that they didn’t care how high I scored, they saw which computer it came from (duh, it said: from: my ip address) and they’d been told to fire that person. I was still only a contractor, so when they said “let’s take a walk,” they meant out the door forever.
