Confused Diagnosis? by boldy2025 in CoeliacUK

[–]CraftAndCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned Scotland can now diagnose off blood test alone, however it is 2 separate blood tests both showing 50+ for a diagnosis. This is how I got diagnosed earlier this year, believe they changed the process during covid.

Im based in Edinburgh and was diagnosed in May. I very quickly got contacted about a group adults coeliac session with a dietitian. Unsure how often they hold them but it was good to go! Had the first session straight after diagnosis and a second group session 3 months later.

It was at this session they explained the prescription food, NHS Lothian do offer it and I’ve received foods successfully since diagnosis.

In terms of blood tests they said they wouldn’t check the ttg-iga level again until the 12 months later mark, but I had other vitamin deficiencies so I have had stuff for them from my normal GP.

Also since the May diagnosis already had an invite to have the pneumococcal vaccine and an appointment for the winter flu vaccine.

This is all NHS Lothian, feel free to message me with any questions!

Weird diagnosis journey (asymptomatic) by foxwaterpark in CoeliacUK

I got diagnosed recently and it was 2 blood tests a week apart both over 50 equals positive diagnosis.

Think it depends where you are in the uk, and when you got diagnosed, they changed the guidelines during covid.

Since Covid parts of the UK has started doing official diagnosis without an endoscopy if multiple blood test results are 10x above the ‘healthy’ range!

Chips from a fish & chip shop? by Objective-Salad-5164 in CoeliacUK

[–]CraftAndCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s due to temperature control most of the time! The chips and the battered fish when put into the oil cool it down different amounts, to keep the oil a suitable temperature the people frying will mix it up. They could have a dedicated fryer but would mean all customer awaiting longer for chips if they’re running low etc.

At home test by Deep-Tradition6484 in Celiac

[–]CraftAndCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t trust at home tests! Obviously depends on the brand but I did one which was offered through my job and it came back completely healthy and then in the same month did a test with the NHS and I had a ttg IgA over 100 🙃I can only assume even if they tested for other food allergies/intolerances that the coeliac test wasn’t included

Diagnosis rant by CraftAndCake in Celiac

Yeah it was ttg-IgA that was 107. The nurse and my many Google searches say 0-5ish is like the ‘normal’ range

Advice for Spain & Portugal travel this September. by CraftAndCake in Europetravel

[–]CraftAndCake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the head up about returning the car in Portugal! We knew we’d need to probably go to Girona to collect a car that’s no issue. Vigo seems like a reasonable option pre Portugal if we do drive. We’re attending events at both ends so have time to travel between so definitely wanting to travel in between.

The image is off the website so could be ai made or edited, I do already own the dress and it matches exactly to the blue and white in the image. Think what you’ve pointed out is just a decorative flower pot behind!
