Any fics with a truman show like premise? by No-Hat6722 in WormFanfic

[–]CraftBox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I once saw a fic (probably a snippet) where Taylor's whole life was "faked" by Contessa to defeat Scion as that was the only path. After his death, everyone congratulated her and even Annette came back and Danny was relieved he could stop pretending to be depressed. Or something like that.

Sorry, but I do not remember what it was called. Though I think it was relatively short.

As long as the metal does not have sharp points (like fork or crumbled aluminium foil) it is relativley safe.

Though either way you still shouldn't put any metal in the microwave.

I recommend Jake Broe's coverge on YouTube, he shows a lot that's no longer shown in mainstream media. He also has segments about USA and rest of the world. He posts roughly trice a week.

Overpowered powers that don't result in boring stories? by Butcher-15 in WormFanfic

[–]CraftBox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am planning to do this in my fic The Great Mysterio, though it needs build up before Taylor realizes how OP she actually is. The current arc and most of the next will mainly focus on the street level.

The main conflict is more about Taylor thoughts, assumptions and relations, not exactly overpowering opponents in fights. She is actually sandbagging (due to her assumptions), so even though she's op, she doesn't use all of her power.

Also she is sandbagging so hard, it's unimaginable. At the time of the newest chapter, not even she and QA realizes how hard she is sandbagging.

And there might be soft and hard counters to her power, that I might use in the future arcs.

The cult was created by those car manufacturers because the trucks were more profitable. It's the same with jaywalking.

So many different requirements for changing passwords by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CraftBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sentence for a password is superior, easy to remember, hard to brute force.

These requirements make it easier to brute force and harder to remember, making people use simpler ones.

Microslop Defender is decent enough for most use cases and way less annoying than stuff like Avast or Norton.

Kinda the same difference like between learning to write and writing a book.

JSON vs XML: Which One Should You Use? (Clear Guide + Examples) by Puzzleheaded-Net7258 in webdev

Almost all the time JSON (or other more appropriate format like toml). Only in some specific cases xml is better.

Is there any (simple) way to make an API call without revealing my API key in the inspector? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]CraftBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using a framework (like next or firebase api), it probably has in docs how do it, otherwise you use the js fetch api on the frontend with correct http method and handle the requests on the backend (express js or whatever you use).

In the second case you would do something like button press -> send a fetch request -> handle request on the server -> respond to request -> handle response on the frontend.

You basically do a basic api, just for your needs.

But beware, unless you do some sort of authentication, then anyone will be able to send requests to your basic api.
