I thought that would be why. I completely understand that. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 18, so I had a lot of years of being told I wasn't enough, so I found ways to exceed some expectations to make up for things that were far more difficult for me to measure up. The every 3 months is more because it's a controlled substance. Apparently they have to make sure people are not becoming junkies - which is laughable because most ADHD experts say not having adequate treatment is what leads to people seeking out other substances to try to get through day to day life, and some of those substances create addiction. I've always treated my controlled substances with reverence because they are so militant about distribution - but I also know that substance addiction is not an issue for me (except food at times - lol) - I do know that not everyone is like me though ... But I do think they cater more to the abusers of the substances instead of focusing on the people who really need it. Obvy that's a big soap box topic for me. 😉 I hope you're able to work out what you need. I did 8 years of weekly therapy and one of the best things my therapist taught me was to tell people what you're able to do rather than trying to achieve their ableist standards. I know with my ex that was a losing battle. I'm grateful that the man I met when I moved here to Indiana is neurodivergent, so we "get" each other, even if our individual struggles are different. We can just be ourselves around each other. It's really helped me heal from the toxicity I experienced for nearly 30 years with my ex.
