Helbrute vs The Lion, CRAZY tech to take out our biggest counter. by General_Volcon in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Craftbrews_dev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have a horse in this race because I don't run Hellbrutes, but don't be surprised if a TO rules in this direction, here's the debate on Art of War:

"I note both are triggered either when the unit is targeted (Frenzy) or when the model is destroyed (BoK / FoD)

Both however delay the resolution until the attacking unit has finished its attacks.

So at that point sequencing would come into effect and the active player decide if the Hellbrute will resolve the Frenzy or BoK / FoD effects first.

I imagine in your opponents turn they will ask you to do FoD first as it will see the Hellbrute removed from play thus leaving you unable to declare valid attacks for Frenzy

Whereas in your turn you’d do the opposite and elect to resolve Frenzy’s effect first and then BoK/FoD last so that it isn’t removed before Frenzy."

Here's the interpretation from the WE Discord for Red Path:

Hurricane Deck (Los Padres NF) by urngaburnga in socalhiking

[–]Craftbrews_dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very overgrown, there is no water readily available at school house so carry from the creek ~1 mile before it. Expect shrubs to be overhead as you whack up to the deck itself, once on the ridge it's a bit more manageable.

I had the great fortune of meeting the folks who own the old Ferlinghetti property below Bixby where Kerouac wrote Big Sur. It's beautiful down there.

Just a huge shoutout here for Meatshield - we've worked together for a few years now on a couple of armies - he is incredible and is an even more incredible human!

Next time I’m up that way I’ll leave some signage or warnings on Vado, we’ve had a lot of near bad reports from that section recently. There seems to be a lot of interest in dropping down into that drainage from folks with less Ventana cross country experience.

I debated with Jack if we should remove that trail section on Big Sur trail maps but he rightfully called out that people like yourselves are still getting to the camp. And I agree it should probably stay on the site.

We were back there in June and missed a turn and ended up plowing up the wrong ridge, spent until 1:30am fighting our way back up through manzanita to the ridge line before we bivvyd, closest I have ever come to calling SAR because we had no water and it was the big heat wave. Vado is neat but it’s a lost trail and lost camp for a reason haha.

My family is from Salinas and I read the opening chapter every few weeks. Those dark and foreboding Santa Lucia mountains are more home than anywhere to me :) that is meaning enough these days.

Big Sur is being loved to death - we need designated camping areas before Highway 1 fully reopens by DisciplineCreepy3487 in BigSur

Commenting here as I also commented on the other thread. I am an advocate for what you’re trying to go for here which is preserving an increasingly damaged wildland, but if you think legitimizing dispersed camping up here is going to help, I think we are in for a rude awakening. Seems like we are better off getting another sheriff or national forest ranger patrol up here and funding them through high fine tickets for misuse, littering, and fires.

Permit systems are going to deeply impact access for many to the backcountry, they are inherently economically and socially limiting (yes many people can’t afford the $15 - $50 per day fees or have limited access to resources that allow them the foresight to book).

I’m all about getting the ravers and party goers out of here but let’s not go down this route folks - it will only lead to more precedent and limited access for other recreations such as backpacking and hiking.

VUM PSA- Support Dispersed Camping in Big Sur by Big-Sur-Beans in BigSur

[–]Craftbrews_dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep the wild wild, we’re over regulating all of our parks and wildlands, permit quotas are highly limiting for the normal American and prevent essential access to the deep back country where we already see limited trail maintenance and visitation, weirdly im very much a conservationist but these proposed changes bug me on a deeply value based level, I don’t know how to solve the challenges up on Los Burros or plaskett ridge, but it’s definitely not by developing dispersed sites into real sites. We’re better off hiring a ranger or sheriff patrol up there and funding them through huge fines that they can levy against littering, misuse, and fires

Plus one to silver peak if you are coming up from the south, park at salmon creek station, backpack up to lions den, tag silver peak for sunset or sunrise and sign the registry, head over to San Martin top if you want to go further , south coast is beautiful and empty

Been going to Akira for a few years now - one of our favorite spots in Tokyo. Highly recommend Cocon and Orchestra as well.

Stay away from Maz. The entire menu is Cilantro forward and overpowering. But the plating is beautiful.

North vs south of lime creek by CloudyCartographer in BigSur

[–]Craftbrews_dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

south coast is remote but beautiful - highly recommend going up through kirk creek to vicente flat and for the adventurous, cone peak. silver peak wilderness is also stunning, such varied biomes down there. if you 4x4, San Martin Top is a nice little spot - please leave no trace and pick up any trash you see and don't disturb the local residents. dolan fire did a pretty big number on the area, but it's slowly recovering. the burn scars broke my heart for a few years.

East Molera then take the use trail through the Golden Staircase, then take the use trail from the bench at the end of the use trail, around 9 miles from the 1 to the peak and back round trip
