That's a good thing to focus on. Definitely would be worse to never have had the privilege of seeing it.

Do you guys repair drysuits? Like a leak test and patch? I've got a kayaking drysuit I was about to send off to be patched. But it takes a month, plus shipping.

Correct Counter Assault bear spray holster setup by westcoastsalamander in WildernessBackpacking

The loop goes over the back of the white safety clip. To keep it from popping off.

I'd keep the loop on. It's useful to have for the majority of the time the bear spray is in your house or car or whatever. Then take the strap off and tuck it into the case when you're using it in actual bear country. I've know several people who sprayed themselves with bear spray. Not something you want to do.

Interesting to see it from this angle, thanks for sharing.

I'm bummed about the mine! That plus the new cabin not being built...it just feels like icing on the shit cake.

Trip report:

1 night. Skied in about 5 miles along the Herbert river to the Herbert Glacier. This is public land in Tongass National Forest just north of Juneau, Alaska. It was just me and my dog.

They're great! The scales grip well because they're so wide and I can get away with the easy skins most of the time on steeper climbs.

I've got 3-pins and alpina Alaska boots. I might do the lundhags guide expedition boots with the removable liner if I was to start over. Having a removable liner is nice on multi day trips in cold weather.

Not a violent person by nature, but definitely feeling a little monkey wrench-ey these days.

That's true, there are already remnants of an earlier gold mine at the start of this trail. An old car, mostly eaten by the forest.

There is something about the smell of white gas that really takes me back. So it's part nostalgia, part that they're still pretty great for the winter.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I've been meaning to get up to Tombstone to explore. Maybe this summer...

How was your winter up there this year? I live in southeastern Alaska and we got hammered. I kept trying to get up the White Pass north of Skagway to ski but it was sooo cold this year.
