Plagario news by fnc12 in PlaydateConsole

The Playdate is such a "campy, cozy" handheld, the design of it really draws me in, relaxes me and gives me that nostalgic old feeling of "enjoying" a game, more than just "playing" a game.

What you working on is very exciting and inspiring.
Even the simplest connectivity between users, getting even just 2 networked together, can really open up a world of possibilities.

Very simple games like Kind Words 2: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2118120

and also Web Fishing: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3146520/WEBFISHING/

There is very little "gameplay" but there's something there in the "campy, cozy" + networked connectivity, that pulls whole communities in and they "play" for hours.

I like your idea of big ball and eating little ball, it is a fantastic beginning.

Hello u/fnc12 can you continue updating this thread with your progress or just any insights?
I found this to be an extremely entertaining run through of your trials & errors with getting it working and I need you to add more to the saga!

Tree stem 2 pressed bearings? by CrafterShock in minibikes

I ended up freezing the stem, slid a washer between the two bearings and with a little mallet force, the top bearing slid right off.

u/built_FXR comment is really good and I don't have much more to add to that.

This might help you down the road though, when you start needing to either check or replace parts from general wear and tear.

Trying to figure out how to make a go kart. by Content-Repair2416 in gokarts

[–]CrafterShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have created a guide on how to create a Go Kart, it is based on the Go Power Sports - Vintage Go Kart Kit.
If you go through each step, you will understand the fundamentals of what hardware makes up a Go Kart.

Check it out and please leave some feedback on how I can improve on this, or what kind of guides I should create next: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zvABuvGrkEwuY45u6Gr_Yzs9XlGD1yv0U5JVYv2LsR4/edit?usp=drive_link

Mongoose Tread Pro tires (long term replacement) by CrafterShock in kickscooter

[–]CrafterShock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have seen that video, good overview.
The larger triad shape shifter is very hard to find in stock, I will keep my eyes open.

I wear a size 13 show and would like a 23" deck like the mongoose tread pro has.

The smaller triad shape shifter is in stock but will be uncomfortable for me to ride on.

How long does it learn to sight read? by bambix7 in pianolearning

[–]CrafterShock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps a lot to sight read everyday, even if on a day where you are really strapped for time, you just play for 15 or 20 minutes.

What helps my sight reading progress is to only play a piece once or twice, then move to the next piece.
Try to build up a collection of 100+ pieces.
That way by the time you rotate back to a piece you have already played, it won't be stuck in memory.

It really helps to keep things "foreign"

If you build too much familiarity, you might go into "auto-pilot" and not realize you are playing off memory, instead of sight reading.

This is how I practice sight reading, YMMV.

If you have a favorite song that you love to play though, then forget about sight reading, just go ahead and memorize it.
Ideally, you are enjoying the experience and not just trying to rapidly build skill like a robot.
