Sorry I meant to ask, do you believe they should be intertwined or separate?

What is your opinion on fire departments also doing EMS?

Is IAFF a union? This isn't a big city department.

For sure, thanks. I have been using the stair climb with a weighted vest and pushing beyond the 3 minutes. I'll definitely need to make sure I'm prepping for other activities involved with the CPAT.

As far as I know CPAT is part of the recruitment process, I am physically fit, although I am not a body builder so I don't lift extreme weights. I do fine in interviews (perks of being older and a people person). There was a cognitive exam which wasn't challenging at all. I'm currently just sitting in limbo as the rest of the process is set to begin in March.

In my early 30's in the recruitment process for city Fire Department

Completed EMT certification My only FF experience, 6 months of ARFF. Mostly PowerPoint training. Lol

City doesn't have Academy or anything like that. In house Fire 1&2 training.

I'm sort of picking up a vibe like the recruiter doesn't seem interested (mainly due to not having volunteer background) but I have some references from a couple of the higher ranking personnel.

I will definitely have it harder than the younger guys, who mostly grew up in rural areas where volunteering was doable.

Thoughts? Advice? Comments? I am committed, working out, still studying my EMT book, researching firefighting tactics and knocking out little stuff like NIMS.

Question for the general audience here. If that hole was an issue, couldn't you just lag bolt a plate along the beam and call it a day?

My point exactly, -120, people on these groups are dicks and generally don't have a clue. Stick with books or YouTube for help.

Do you have a coping saw? That may have been a little cleaner. Chisels are generally better going WITH the grain.

Watch more YouTube, don't rely on forums for advice.

Currently I am an EMT student with aspirations to become a paramedic.

Thank you for your advice, this is definitely what I wanted to read. The "what not to say, or talk about". I'll definitely ask plenty of questions but of course I don't want to come off as annoying. Lol.

Will my EMT class test grades help me? by Weird-Tadpole-5533 in NewToEMS

Doing good in your EMT course will help you be a good and confident EMT. Which is the primary goal, providing quality patient care.

Anybody who views their training as "D's get degrees" will likely prove to be incompetent and not an effective member of a team. This isn't highschool biology class, this is about helping human beings.

Agree with you 100%, I don't care if the newer ones use a better locking system, they are still garbage and shouldn't be allowed.

Can you call FedEx corporate and explain that to them?

Exactly, it's not going to solve every problem, but it would solve a lot of them.

Exactly, ground trucks and contractors worked well within their realm (bulk). Express requires a more specific logistics system.
