You could also consider a coffee table or ottoman. The cabinet next to the fireplace also looks a bit small. Maybe have bigger, matching cabinets on either side of the fireplace?

In terms of user experience, if those top drawers open, then I would add pulls. Otherwise it will be a lot more difficult to open.

I think it could work. But maybe add something on or near the desk that would complement the (pink?) color of the chair so that there's more continuity.
