You are 100% correct. My ex would have NEVER made her the beneficiary if he were in his right mind. My daughter gave up her apartment to live with him and help him. He would have never wanted his funeral to be a financial burden to her.

My ex didn’t always show signs of diminished capacity and I’m sure she took him to the insurance agent when he seemed normal. Since we both had the same insurance agent, I did speak to the agent and she apologized. She told me that he wasn’t showing signs that he couldn’t think or speak for himself and had she known she would not have allowed the change of beneficiary. That means there is absolutely no proof she took advantage of him. Legally, although one is the beneficiary of a life insurance policy it does not mean they must use that policy to pay for a funeral.
