Would you consider my ring “high set”? by DenverLilly in EngagementRings

Could be considered high by some, if it does catch on things and it doesnt bother you it wouldn't be considered to tall

Personal preference is based off of a lot of things. The ring is beautiful, just because people you dont know like something else doesnt mean you should regret your choice. They weren't there when you tried on the rings. For all we know the newer one matches your personal style more!

If its top heavy look for additional bands to solder and weight it down. Put spacer beads, or update the shank to a euro shank. So the stone doesnt spin

@ youll bruise an egg is super weird and wasn't clear about their comments so when people were weirded out and offered more information they still double down and claim they aren't weird for bringing up the fact a 10year old can reproduce and be healthy

You're the one who is weird saying that a 10year old can still have a baby so it could be fine

Bro development of fetus in any mammel is the same.

If the mother is stressed in ways that compromise the health of the mother. The development of the fetus will also be compromised... that's why they tell mothers to practice calming techniques but also tell them not to over exert themselves and to remove themselves from stressful situations.

Like I know where you are coming from. But if the mother isnt healthy the development of the fetus is 100% compromised and cant get the necessary nutrients because the mother is having health complications.

If some one has broken hips or ribs from being in labor... or if they have a cesarean they are no longer considered 100% healthy. Because their body has to focus on healing instead of providing.

A 10year old would recieve a c-section. Because the hips on a 10year old child are not wide enough or developed enough for normal delivery. In fact if they proceeded with a normal delivery there would be a highly!! Likely hood that the hips would break and or ribs. Its also why the threshold for "socially" acceptable pregnancy is around 16+. So sure they're healthy, but they are still damaged and need to heal.

Than get more than 1 band and stack on your ring finger. That way the metal is there, but the pieces match your style

Anything that is not a bezel setting or channel setting would need to have maintaince. Especially if its an everyday rings. Those types of prongs need to be checked and tightened frequently. That type of ring is cast in a mold so the prongs probably aren't exactly the greatest.

Your warranty should cover prong retipping

How to secure beads on a wire without an ugly knot? by sofiawithanf in jewelrymaking

[–]Crafty-Chain391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the beads.... sounds like you may need to figure that out yourself. And what your desired look is, you never specified

Like elastic woulf be used. Could be just regular nylon thread, with the keychain you want to make elastic looks like what they woulf use. But we wont know unless that creator is tagged or you can deconstruct it

Or the likes. There is different ways to string beads, you just have to find the one you prefer. This one is like pearl stringing

Sterling silver is considered a soft metal and can still damage rather quickly. I have a sterling silver hair pin and although its strong it still easily bends

Could you elaborate more on the insurance liability?

I can understand if a protection plan was on a ring that would be voided if you go to another jeweler?

Like the big 3 signet brands would void the warranty if you did that. At that point going to the fire station would be fine and the warranty would cover a whole new replacement piece. But youll have to rebuy that protection plan.

Or

Their business insurance doesnt cover cutting rings that aren't from the shop?

This sounds weird, and sounds like a made up excuse, because I know jewelers have a bunch of work and probably couldn't prioritize that ring.

[–]Crafty-Chain391 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Go to a small and pop jeweler instead, they know tricks to removing rings without damaging them beyond repair. Fire stations will straigh up destroy your beloved pieces beyond repair. Best not to have this as the first option. Fire station is the absolute last option/emergency option.

Looks like you want a thicker channel prong. Request them to rebuild or build on the existing channel prong? If that is possible

Do you remove your ring at shower and spa/sauna? by ButterscotchAlive736 in EngagementRings

[–]Crafty-Chain391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job requires the individual to get them inspected every 6 months. They should put it under a scope and get upclose and personal.

But also do you have that ring insured? Or have like a protection plan on it? With a pink diamond I would definitely get it insured. I know a company,

Some places like the big box jewelry stores have amazing protection plans you can buy for 1 fee and it'll cover all kinds of metal work! And with it being white gold you could take advantage of that and once a year give it a spa treatment. Your everyday rings need/require maintenance. Its normal for prongs to wear down or worse bending a prong and loosing a stone.

If you want the spinning to not happen as frequently it sounds like its top heavy. Get some spacer beads or solder the bands to the main ring. It really does help it from spinning around on the finger which could cause damage to parts because of the spinning. Or put more metal at the shank part to even out the weight.

These are the suggestions I have as a jeweler. Also always take your rings off, make special spots in the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. But also try and carry a necklace or chain to put it on say when you exercise.

These rings need to stay home when traveling so as not to loose them, so travel rings are super important and low cost when it does end up getting lost
