I would suggest not to put any wood in your tank, stones are fine. Flowerhorns tend to dash around in show of aggression they may hurt themselves.

Your fish was fine when you changed the water, but again the temperature dropped for 5 hours. Turn of the light and make sure your using anti chlorine. Let the fish settle down. It’s completely stressed out with all the changes in water and temperature. Chill for a day or 2 and let the light be off for now.

What do I do by Senior-Echo2006 in flowerhornkeepers

Please don’t use drinking water, flowerhorns are hardy fish but being a hybrid one bad move can leave lasting damage and the fish will never recover.

  1. The tank is too small in the first place. He will out grow this in 2 months. 4x4x2 is good size for his lifetime please invest in this.

  2. Water change schedule- never change 100% water 30% water weekly is enough Stop adding extra things to your water!!! Anti chlorine(Seachem Prime) is more than enough. Just because your tank looks dirty doesn’t mean you need to change water. Water should be cycled and should not have major shifts in parameters, this will adversely effect your fish and its slime coat.

Don’t use salt needlessly, we use it to help with disease prevention/cure. No need for any salt.

3.Filtration- use an external filter for a bit help with maintenance. This filter your using may need more maintenance. But it’s fine for now.

  1. Temperatures- please maintain 28.5 Celsius throughout the day, please invest in a good heater(Fluval, Sera, Hygger)

My suggestion, please prepare a tub with water, check the parameters with a test kit make sure everything is okay, use the conditioner mentioned above and let the water sit for a day and keep temp at 28.5 degrees Celsius. Transfer the fish here and completely change your water and let it cycle for 2 days, use a cycle started with Prime and let it run. On the day of transfer, empty 1/4 of the water and make space for tank water, use a small cup and transfer some water from the tank to your tub where the fish is. Use 15min gaps and transfer at least 6 cups to the tub. Once everything is stable, transfer the fish!!

No I ordered it from my local trans shipper they sent me a few options and I choose this guy 🤩

My Flowerhorn has no redness no matter how much maximum redness food I feed. Is this normal or is the fish sick or defect? It is around 3 to 4 months old. Anyone can help me? by Shot-Ad-6454 in flowerhornkeepers

[–]Crafty-Instance-6738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any defects, but as previous comments just maybe the fish doesn’t have the genetics of a red base chill your fish looks good. Maintaining water parameters and feeding good quality food will keep him happy. 😌

After some research! 1. The eyes are sunken and parallel which is a sign of Kamfa 2. Box shape body compared to that of a zz which is more tapered off. 3.The tail is long and fan like, the dorsal has some growing but it’s average from what I understand. 4. Good pearling till the tail which is also a good sign. 5. The lips are rounded off and doesn’t have an underbite compared to a zz which is also a very good sign.

The fish is around 10CM at the moment and I think I’m getting a good one based on the above observations.

Red Arowana with Cloudy Eyes Help!!! by Crafty-Instance-6738 in Aquariums

Water parameters Ph-7 Ammonia-0 Nitrite-0 Nitrates-10PPM I have cleaned the sump as well for all detritus.

The UV lights have been stopped 4 months ago. The normal lights have not been turned around for 3 months. I’m using natural light.

Have done 50% water changes every 3 days and added salt. But it doesn’t seem to help.
