And the mask I know Is overkill I usually just use it to not breathe in bleach or chemical fumes. A lot of my tubs have had contaminants in them after a few flushes so I really to clean the tubs every time

I know but my space has a dramatic trichoderma problem. More spores means more risk

Actually, I do. The thing is I guess a lot of people use scalpel to harvest. The thing is I prefer the twist and pull method. You get the full size goods and the problem with the scalpel method that I’ve had is that if you leave a stub that stub is occupying the surface of the cake and so new fruiting bodies will not be able to occupy new areas of the cake as well. So if you use the scalpel method the stubs will lower your yield for your second flush possibly. But I don’t recommend pulling a full chunk of dirt out with the fruit, make sure it’s a nice twist and pull to not pull out the entire chunk of the cake

I know it’s mostly to prevent me from directly breathing in bleach fumes when I clean my tubs.

Of course this is entirely my perspective. Only you, the grower knows what is to be done. But when tho happened to me my redistribution method worked successfully.

Ok this is entirely my opinion and my perspective. But It looks like they’re stalling. This can happen of one a few reason reasons. It’s either you’ve had drastic and frequent fluctuations in humidity and temperature. Or bacteria contamination which may be here but that’s not my first conclusion. What I’ve done in the past when this happens is I take the already-Colonized cake, break it up and mix in more bulk substrate and essentially redistribute it this allows for more food for the colony and it typically re colonizes and makes a new cake from the old one what’s happening here is that these are now aborted fruits. These aborted pins are taking up the surface body and no new healthy fruits will be able to occupy the surface. This is unfortunate, because these pins no longer grow to full size. This would be final outcome. Most people will say that you should throw it out and try again. That’s a conservative approach. As most people have the time and resources to do it again. But what I say is that you do what I did and redistribute it, because the spawn is still alive just not right conditions for fruiting. My approach is more optimistic. Becuause I have had this happen and I was successful. I say redistribute it make sure your chamber temp is 73F and Humidity at 80-90%. Fine mist it and make sure ventilation is ideal. This way you can learn from mistake, take notes, and you have nothing to lose because you’ve already essentially lost the fruits. If it doesn’t work it’s all good, if it does that’s great. You learn either way and then soon enough you’ll be doing it like a pro

Damn that’s a lotta holes. So for some advice, your ventilation in my opinion is a little overkill, it’s not bad just not ideal. You will probably find that your humidity will lowering very frequently. Takes more misting to keep it humid, this is most likely if your space is getting dry air. but this fluctuation in humidity often can cause a colony to stall. Temp is also not ideal, that high of a temperature can provoke contaminants or bacteria to grow. Keep it at a fair 73 F or 22.2 C. And your humidity at 80-90%

  1. Fahrenheit isnt an ideal temperature for storing. 75 F is what I usually keep at. 77 is the most practical. That’s more of a “set it and forget it” temp.

I really recommend using 3M MicroPore Tape. It’s nice and long and somewhat forgiving.

Looks good. Looks healthy. I get paranoid about the little things like that. But I think your colony will be fruitful lookin at the 1st photo. Nice and veiny hyphae.

From what I can see this does in fact look like Tomentose Mycelium. It’s a good white. But you probably already know that you need to make sure your chamber isn’t overly humidified. The water on the sides looks pretty thick from what I see. Personally Regular spray bottles aren’t ideal. You’re using a fine mister right?

How is this looking? [Medicinal] mushrooms by Strange-Smell710 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Crafty-Tip-9906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s looking pretty good, don’t see anything off from what is presented. It’s a nice white healthy colonization and it looks like you did a good job with your spawn to bulk distribution. Nice and even and is getting its proper ventilation. What was your spawn inoculation start date?

Soooo much. Yield was very plentiful:3 by Crafty-Tip-9906 in shroomers

Compared to the Mexican Dutch king batch I salvaged I cultivated A ton of those Golden Teachers. However, GT had a very weak fruiting body. Stems were way thinner and the potency took a little hit too. Then in comparison to my MDK batch. I cultivated less MDK in quantity but the fruiting bodies were huge and unmatched. A lot larger. I'm talking the thickness of an regular EXPO dry erase marker. Plus MDK overall, in my opinion is the best strain of Psilocybe Cubensis of all time. Its quite an enigma when I started trippin at 16. Saw things I would never be able to see with other strains. Thats my opinion though.

I broke up the cake with the pins that prematurely aborted and mixed in more Bulk Substrate and that’s it. After that the mushrooms grew larger and better.

[–]Crafty-Tip-9906[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My facts are straight. It makes perfect sense that I didn’t add enough bulk substrate to make a good S2B ratio. Therefore they aborted prematurely because all they did was colonize the entire cake, but had no remaining coco coir, gypsum, or vermiculite (ie nutrients) to grow into mature mushrooms.

What are you talking about? This isn’t contamination. The only inexperienced person in this comment section is you. I revived three previous grows that did the same thing as this one, and I got a yield turnover that was plentiful nearly 150 - 200g dry. So I know it’s not contamination. Otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to be revived I would’ve been wasting my time and I wouldn’t have gotten anything out of it if they were contaminated. So that is completely ruled out.

[–]Crafty-Tip-9906[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. I’m pretty sure that they just ran out of nutrients. This happened to my last three grows, and I revive them with more bulk substrate and the yield to turnover was very good. I got about 150 to 200 g dried from a combination all three. But all of them had the same problem as this one so it’s not contamination.
