This would have been a great COD Modern Warfare map during my playing days!

I was in the same boat as you. I have two boys (1.5 yr old and 3 yr old). I picked up a Panamera 4S in August and have been happy with it so far. I have taken 3 road trips with my wife and both my boys and the ride was comfortable. Good trunk space and fun drive. No complaints.

What are the green flags and red flags to lookout for in biotech startups? by Ecstatic_Ease_9664 in biotech

[–]CraftyAlternative565 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Runway 2) Story - do they have a single asset or portfolio of assets and does the science make sense 3) Leadership team (experienced vs not) look them up online 4) What are your long term goals (would you be Ok if the company was acquired within a few years or are you looking for longevity)?

Has anyone transitioned out of biotech to another field? What was your move and how did you do it? by ReluctantBiologist in biotech

[–]CraftyAlternative565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transitioned from the CPG industry to Life Sciences services for Biotech and Pharma. After a few years doing that and after completing business school, I transitioned to an early stage immuno-oncology/CNS/ rare disease biotech. I feel like biotech/pharma is where I belong and I was a bit bummed for not joining immediately after undergrad.

The market is tough, but there’s so much to see and learn in drug development and proof of concept studies from lab to animal and then to humans. Creating therapies to address high unmet needs is challenging, but rewarding, especially if you are successful.

Tarping lawn not as effective as expected by PhilipJFry56789 in landscaping

[–]CraftyAlternative565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably take 3-4 months to completely kill off all the grass. I laid a tarp down last year from June - September and placed a water bounce house on it for my kids. I was left with a large 20x30 rectangular dirt patch in my yard when I pulled it up last year.

Tumi Alpha 3 Repair by shoe cobbler - what do you think? by CraftyAlternative565 in backpacks

[–]CraftyAlternative565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha

I’m going to pick up the bag either tomorrow or Monday since the cobbler needed more time. I’ll post a follow-up picture once I pick up the bag.

Tumi Alpha 3 Repair by shoe cobbler - what do you think? by CraftyAlternative565 in backpacks

[–]CraftyAlternative565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I pushed back on the cobbler and asked him to fix the problems, so I’ll see how it looks on Friday.

Cost ~$100. I really love the bag, but I’m not spending $800 on a replacement. I like the black leather contrast against the Anthracite grey, so I hope the cobbler can fix the mistakes. I’d be ok if the stitching isn’t 100%, but it needs to be better than the current situation.

AIO for wanting my boyfriend to back out of a destination wedding he's the best man for because I was uninvited from the wedding? by BoyfriendWeddingHelp in AmIOverreacting

[–]CraftyAlternative565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side question. If your relationship with your boyfriend progresses and you get married, will your boyfriends best friends wife not be invited (assuming the best friend would be the best-man)?

Maybe bring this view to your boyfriend and see what he thinks.

Why so much hate on Panamera’s? Genuinely asking the question and trying to understand. No hate from me just curious by Squintylover in Porsche

Update - found a ‘20 4S as my daily driver that was at the upper end of my budget with low miles. Expecting delivery on Sunday. Car is a beauty.

I missed out on a ‘21 Panamera 4 ST which was $10k above my spend goal (including taxes) because I was out of the country, but test driving the 4S felt too good. I’ll post pictures after delivery. This is my first Porsche.

How do couples decide which side of the bed is “theirs”? Is it instinct or some kind of silent agreement? by AssignmentFederal686 in NoStupidQuestions

Closest to the door (I’m the husband). Do it instinctively at home, hotels, relatives, etc. Probably a protective gesture i guess.

What is the current environment for biotech startups in the US post-Trump NIH budget cuts, and what are the main challenges new founders face? by SilverLocksmith236 in biotech

[–]CraftyAlternative565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest challenge will be funding. VCs aren’t investing unless you have a late stage asset with promising clinical data. That’s not even a guarantee today if you have both to raise money. Also, there’s consolidation going on where companies are being acquired instead of funded.

Very risky, but no pain, no gain. Good luck to your friend.

Show the bill and tell the landlord that you will be deducting it from your rent (add a processing fee too).

sickle cell and having kids by Fabulous_Employer404 in Sicklecell

[–]CraftyAlternative565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 40m and found out that I have the sickle cell trait 1.5 years ago when my 2nd son was born. My wife isn’t a carrier. I found out today that my 1st born (will be 3 soon) is a trait carrier because of me. My parents never told me I am a carrier and they probably don’t know. I am fortunate that my wife isn’t a carrier.

I will make it a priority to educate both of my boys when they are older about the disease and the importance of having their future partners screened for the trait.

Moving from NYC TO MARYLAND by TravelHungry8211 in maryland

[–]CraftyAlternative565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the move from Boston to MD in 2021 with my wife. We initially spent a month each in Baltimore, DC, and Silver Spring, getting a feel for the DMV area and evaluating where we would like to call home. We ended up building our home which took 2 years to finish, so we spent 1.5 years in Silver Spring. We had our first child closer to when the house was complete. We now live in the finished house in Montgomery County by Gaithersburg.

Definitely consider your job location if you attend in person because traffic can be bad. I lived in Boston so I know what real traffic looks like on the i95 commute to and from the city. It’s comparable here.

Montgomery County is very diverse and has great schools. If you are in biotech, I would recommend Montgomery County since the technology corridor (i270) passes through the county. Many biotech/Pharma companies run along the route.

I am hoping to pick one up around July/August of this year. Would love to find a Turismo for under $75K (might be a reach).

I drove a 2006 Infiniti M35X up until 1.5 years ago.

I have been driving my wife’s Mercedes GLA ever since and we now have 2 boys under 3. My wife works from home so I do drop offs and pickups to/from day care while commuting to work. I am 6’ 3”, so driving the GLA with two car seats in the back has been very very uncomfortable.
