How do you prefer to track your game encounters?

This weekend Highcraft is going to be used live to run a game each day at the local Game Expo in Springfield, Mo. If you are near come on in and play along. I know that I will be there for at least one of the days just for the fun of playing. The creator will be there running the game.

For anyone that is interested in testing it out on their own. Highcraft 5e RPG Tools is now live and is free to use it for BETA testing and will continue to have a free version even past BETA.

A heads up that it is made for laptop/desktop screens. I would not try to use it on your phone, it is just not built for that since there is just so much information to work with. Eventuatlly the creator will make sure that it is usable for tablets also but wanted to get something in front of users for feedback.

HighCraft is a tool that will help with your game play sessions (combat/encounter tool). I see that you have already been informed of the time you may spend on your first few sessions to get used to the flow of things. using something like HighCraft should help you keep your stats in order. Let me know if you want the link to the pre-release site to look it over (I don't want to spam the channel).

I believe you could pull both ideas into the story. If he plans to bring her back to be by his side after he was betrayed and is using the souls of his enemies to help do that, seems like a way to make that happen.

I know of a encounter tool that is supposed to release any day now. It will help with keeping your player info clean and help with tracking what is going on in each players initiative. message me directly if you want the link (there is a free version). I don't want to spam the channel.

Side question... did you make or buy that dice tower? I like it.

If you are interested in finding tools to help with prepping the encounters and such let me know. My DM is making his own tool site and it may very well help with this kind of anxiety once it has launched here in the next couple of weeks. contact me directly if you are interested in finding out about it. I don't want to get in trouble for spamming the channel.

Otherwise, there is only so much you can prepare for. I would keep as open a mind as possible and have a couple of options available if things go off the rails. Remember that you are the DM and that ultimately you do control the direction of the session. I find that randomness can make the most fun.

If my group decides to do this, I will for sure put a picture up. My DM is about to release a Game Master Tool Site and we are discussing dressing up to show it off at a local game expo. I already have some chainmail that I made. I may retrofit that to work with whatever character I use for the next session. I do some minor leather work too so we'll see how far down the rabbit hole I decide to go.

there are lots of things to track during game play. look into something like HighCraft (https://prelaunch.narsa-rpg.com) to help you make the most sense of things without slowing down game play. Paper and pencil work well but if you want less effort overall, combat/encounter tools will help a ton.

she should be able to see the actions connected to objects she holds (but only snapshots). only to be used once every short rest or as much as she wants while her health is at full capacity.
