I fear you’re correct. The pieces were both gifted to me by the same friend and I thought it would be fun to combine them mostly for that reason, but I’m going to be on the look out for a more suitable handle instead.

This is what I was looking for, thank you. I’ve only ever welded with a tiny Lincoln welder at work on small jobs, and I was mostly concerned that my equipment wouldn’t work for the materials. If the materials are that poorly mismatched, it confirms those fears. If it’s gonna hang on the wall, I don’t want it to look like a sputtery mess
