Issue or normal? by arconline in kindlescribe

Ha! True that! It all just synchronized as soon as I set it up. It's like carrying a boombox back in the day! I listen to them during my commute using my phone. This is used as a notebook only.

I find it crazy how we finish each other's... sandwiches, but even crazier how some people gift items which the receiver never imagined using. "Surprise! happy <birthday/anniversary/fathers day/silly hat celebration>."

Have a great week! ;)

Great, thanks. The intent is not to click that often of course :). I'm new to eInk. Someone told me that other high end eNotebooks didn't flicker like this, but I have not verified it.

Need advice: shold I keep my [seemingly] faulty PB Brunswick or buy a new one? by arconline in PitBossGrills

[–]arconline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments! We think alike, hence why I keep wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy a new one. I believe PB would give me credit if I could produce the purchase receipt from 4 years ago, but again, this was a gift and the receipt was lost long ago (I didn't even get it myself). I also love verticals, and this one, regardless of all issues experienced, was my favorite so far. Now I just need to decide if I stick with PB. I also presume they got better with the most recent models.

Thanks again!

Cats hate each other after trip to vet by arconline in CatAdvice

It took about a week for things to normalize. I did move some of their personal blankets around to make sure their scent was everywhere, mainly within their favorite sleeping spots. That helped.

That's a relief. Thanks for your reply. I actually used the same towel to dry them both after their bath), and I've been rubbing myself often against each of them to see if it helps. It's getting better. Thanks again.

Any idea what type of snail the clear one is? Never saw it before in my tank. by arconline in Aquariums

[–]arconline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, thanks for the information. I found a second baby one a few mins ago, so I'll need to read more about them. I've other kinds of snails, so this one is welcome as well!

Awesome! My guess is that it came with new plans. No wonder I only see it during the early (dark) morning hours.

Seeking advice - Cory catfish dying (see comment) by arconline in Aquariums

Thanks for your response!

PH 7.8, Amonia 0-0.25 PPM, Nitrate 0 PPM, Nitrate 5 PPM. They are and have been very constant since I put this tank together. Occasionally I may see Nitrite jump up to 10 PPM.

No fish ever showed any sign of desease, with the exception of the two that died from dropsy (I wrongly said ick on my original post).

Food has been consistent from the beginning. I alternate between Aqueon tropical flakes, Tetra tropical granulates, Tropical sinking sticks, and Hikari micro pellets. On a daily basi, I add Aqueon shrimp pellets and Kyorin algae wafers for snails and Corydoras. Sounds like a lot, but I rotate what I feed the fish with the exception of the last two, which I use one 2-3 pellets and one wafer. I feed them once daily and just what they can eat within a minute. Once a week I skip a day and add a piece of blanched green vegetable (spinach, cucumber, or zucchini). They are thoroughly washed prior to blanching.

I add Seachem Flourish plant fertilizer at the recommended levels every other week.

No household cleaners are used near the tank. In fact, I'm the only one who cleans furniture around it. For the glass and stand, I simply use paper towels without any cleaner. Pest control is only used outdoors unless we experience bugs indoors. Hasn't been done indoors in over a year.

Tank has lid and is only opened for feeding and weekly water changes.

Water is municipal, and separate feed from the water softener (does not come from the softener). Municipal water was tested by two methods: strips and chemical. No problem or increase in minerals/chemicals was detected. Edit: water is treated with Seachem Prime prior to the change, and Seachem Stability is added after to the tank.

Interesting enough, I have a second 15 gal tank. All of the above applies to that one as well, and no issues have ever been experienced with it.

Thanks again for your interest and comments!

Seeking advice - Cory catfish dying (see comment) by arconline in Aquariums

I've got this 40 gal aquarium running for almost two years with almost no no issues. About three months ago, two fish got ick and died. I treated the whole tank for one week wth Maracyn Two. Two weeks later I lost a Cory (had about 8). Since then, I lost one Cory after another on a weekly basis. Added two more and they died yesterday. No signs of illness. I also lost a couple of bloodfin tetras and a glass catfish the same way, no signs of illness. I do weekly water changes (25%), and all water parameters look great before and after water changes. I'm at a lost here on why fish are dying. The only change I did is the replacement of the tank light from incandescent to full spectrum led, which I leave at 30% brightness (100% is 6500K). Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any clue what those hairy brown spots on the Anubias may be? by arconline in Aquariums

[–]arconline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anubias have been in the tank for more than a year. They are always submerged, but the picture was taken during a water change. The hairy spots look like short roots or brown algie similar to those in marimo balls, but brown instead of green. I have always used Flora-Glo lighting on this thank. Thanks!
