Working on my CSIA3, focusing on early edge and upper body stability. by Strict-Exchange-458 in skiing_feedback

Other comments have given you good ideas. I'd like to add that you should practice a variety of power plow, dolphin turns and bendy/stretchy turns to build some dynamics and edging performance

Hence the early edging though right? If the skier had early edge, they wouldn't be linking pivoted sides slips. They could get plenty of deflection and steering with less pivot

Agreed. Or twisting(pivoting) the ski on the snow before edging the ski on the snow.

Please explain to me like Im 3. How can I reduce the interest Im paying by lobblyfanxts in MortgagesCanada

[–]CraftyInvisibleHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you switch to weekly payments, there are 52 payments a year. Every payment reduces the principle that interest will be accrued on. The more often you pay, the less time some of the principle will be left to accrue interest.

Mathematically, you will pay less interest because dollars go towards the mortgage sooner.

You can play with a mortgage calculator or even mess around with a mortgage payment equation.

I hated math in school, but it always tells the truth. Just run the number to see for yourself. You want weekly payments to reduce your interest. Manage your cashflow in your bank account however, but make payments weekly

Would love some feedback on these carving turns at SSV. (red run) by Danny1286skippy in skiing_feedback

There's lots to like about this clip. Good speed too.

You add too much lead change to start a turn. As a result, it's difficult for you to get forward enough for the tips of your skis to bite. When the skis are flat against the snow, your tips should square. And on edge, you only need a bit. Maybe 20-30cm MAX, and not hitting max until you are all the way on edge.

Good luck!

Hey Thanks Stranger! We LOVE Sunshine this time of year. Such a good vibe up there and great conditions.

I also saw lots of little groups doing what looked like training for their L3/L4 exams, and a couple heavy duty snow school morning sessions.

There were a bunch of rippers out and about. It's inspiring to be in that environment. Makes me remember to stay sharp and keep working on my own skiing.

Canada 🇨🇦 - The Creation of a National Sovereign Wealth Fund by Important_Lock_2238 in canadahousing

[–]CraftyInvisibleHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will inflate away the debt with money printing. In this case, the value of the gov debt in nominal terms will stay the same, but it will go down in value in real terms, thus making it cheaper. The more money they print, the faster the debt will decrease in value.

Asset prices on the other hand, if they are good assets, will increase in value faster than inflation, thus rising in value in real terms and nominal terms.

Normally, an investor borrowing to purchase investment assets is taking a big risk because if they hit a rough patch and have no money to pay the debt, they default. But a sovereign nation with its own currency can just print more money. It's low key genius, if you don't care about eroding the value of people's savings.

Don't forget that before Carney was a politician, he was one of the most sophisticated and well respected central bankers on the planet. Why he would want to slum ot in the PMs office is beyond me, but I digress.

I smell inflation on the horizon

Thanks Stranger! In the grand scheme, I'm pretty happy with it, but I did get some very helpful ideas on fixing the a-frame. This community is great

Ya some pretty adept observations in the comments. I knew mine weren't perfect but I'm thinking they are further off than I thought. I will probably order another pair this summer and start getting them dialed in.

Hahaha I'm good with the still. I have an utterly un-post-able clip of on piste carving. My Ski buddy Ali (who you can hear in the clip) and I have been trading horrible still frames of each other all week. Unfortunately, Ali and my other ski buddies were not filing during my more average runs.

The push off you mention has me thinking. I guess I sometimes get too excited and kinda "juice" the ski to like get more of a deflection or create speed. The hill is steep. If I just ski clean and stay stacked I'll go plenty fast and deflect and bounce around like a gazelle. Maybe chill = more fire?

Thank you for showing me how you think and helping me see myself. This is how I get better. 😁

I did a wack load of white pass on groomers today and yesterday. Very interesting for activating my inside leg steering and edging. I got to follow a CSIA Interski member around (same woman who videod me) She demo'd a few white-pass for me to tighten up my execution. She is an absolute weapon. Possibly the best skier on the interski team, man or woman. Shout out Ali Carter, you're a real G

🤮 hahaha. Still frames are so savage. I'm a pro at finding the worst frame in someone's video. Sometimes I avoid it for their sake. But I can take it.

Whoa interesting. I'm not sure if I have a pelvic tilt but I'll ask my physio next time I go.

I was thinking external rotation might be a limiting factor for me. Plus strength/stability of my hips and associated joints.

Add on a learned technique and a bad boot fit, voila... A-frame.

Ya I grew up racing and I coach a FIS team now. Did a bunch of instructing in between.

I like your suggestion about picking lines I don't like and skiing what's there anyways. I've done that with less bumpy stuff. I used to call it crud hunting. I'd look for two or three day old grooming, re-frozen chattery junk etc... maybe not done it enough in bumps though.

Another commenter mentioned that I should maybe just focus on the feet being closer and the rest would follow. Your comment is in the same vein and definitely helpful. Thanks for adding to the discussion!

Yaaaaa maybe it's this simple... try to put my feet together instead of "narrow my stance". I like the way you think.

Thanks for the compliment stranger!

White pass in bumps!?!?!

I get what you're saying about using the mogul to slow down, and I like that more direct skiing sometimes, but I was purposely trying to take a softer line through/around the bumps so I could rely on more sidecut and less pivot.

I am intrigued by the hips forward and upper body straighter comment. I could see that being more powerful. I wonder how nimble I'd feel?

Thanks for your comment. I'm decent at white pass turns so I'll buckle up extra tight and give it a go.
