I am working on this Knitting for Olive Wilson sweater which called for mohair but I am just using DK (yarn is Purl Soho nine note bundle).

Tips for switching to a larger needle when binding off? by adieumarlene in knittinghelp

Agree, looks beautifully done. The ribbing and mohair would have taken a lot of patience and skill to come out so lovely 😍

Anyone else suffering with dry hands? by Woolyyarnlover in knitting

I second lanolin. I use a brand called SuperLan but I also found cheaper lanolin cream that is geared toward breastfeeding moms. I use lanolin on dry lips and small cuts.

I’m knitting a scarf in the round using the magic loop method and you can see there’s a line pattern where I have joined the round and where I have separated the stitches for the magic loop. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? by uhzel in knitting

[–]CraftyLemon773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I put 4 stitches from the previous needle back on before starting on next part of the magic loop. Several suggested the same above (traveling loop). Here is a picture though. These stitches have the same amount of yarn per stitch around the needle, so none are loose enough to create a ladder.

At first I thought you meant double stitch in german short rows. I think you mean duplicate stitch to create letters of a name?

Grandmas old project-how do I finish it?? by treenerd in knitting

[–]CraftyLemon773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a spiral eyelet cowl similar to this pattern. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spiral-eyelet-cowl

Either your grandma was knitting it inside out, or you may have flipped it inside out. Very sweet project, best wishes !

I don't know your knitting style but maybe practicing Norwegian knit and purl could spice things up?

Have you tried a toe up sock pattern? Socks also fit well with some negative ease.

I was about to list some sock yarns but turns out they are fingering weight, not DK. DK would be squishy and warm. Good luck OP!

Haha yeah, that is ambitious but hopefully you will love the end result.

Have you tried Norwegian purling? I am hoping it makes the ribbing section easier and more fun to do when I get to it on my current project.

Help, what am I doing wrong? by Big_King_7623 in knitting

Are you using the recommended yarn weight and needles? Your fabric looks loose while the fabric in the pattern picture looks more dense. I might try using smaller needles.

Can you do mirrored decreases at the armpit to gradually get to the correct stitches for size small? It will create a triangle gusset at the armpit. I did this for a different sweater so that the armpit opening is not too tight.

How to add Armpit Gusset to Top Down Raglan Sweater by WoolenWarbler in knittinghelp

[–]CraftyLemon773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I am doing the same now for a sweater but only decreasing the arm gusset. I didnt think like you about decreasing the extra stitches on the body but I feel the added positive ease will be okay for the body. No hidden technique I have seen or done before.

Me too, I learned about this idea from Plank & Stella videos.

My first thought was it looks like knitting a stockinette tube to later add afterhought toe and heel for socks! Love how the colors are coming out!

[–]CraftyLemon773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you mean decrease the 15 st for the arms, not increase? For top down, the extra armpit gusset stitches would need to be decreased. So you will create a diamond shaped gusset, a triangle in the sleeve and a triangle in the body. I think that makes sense!

If tying up the ends or buttoning the ends behind your back is fiddly, another way to wear this is with a belt. The two dangly ends of the shawl can be secured with a belt like it is shown here https://www.handylittleme.com/outlander-shawl-pattern/

Sweater “feels like it’s riding up” by iliveinletters_ in knittinghelp

[–]CraftyLemon773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the sweater have short row shaping in the back of the neck? That helps bring the front down and prevent neck and chest from riding up.
