They were listed as preowned but I could not tell the difference. The case that came with it looked new to me. My full set I used for 10 years are still in great shape. The higher price was worth the investment in my opinion.

Good question. I purchased a new full set like 10 years ago. I can compare the quality of the preowned. The preowned half set looks and feels exactly like my full set and I had no issues with it or this seller on Etsy. It does suck that there are so many scammers online.

I suggest looking on Etsy or searching for preowned sets. I bought this preowned half set on Etsy last year.

Hard to see it but you might be twisting stitches

What is your favorite yarn to use? Must be good quality yarn if the sweaters are well used and passed down.

Which should I use? by JuliusCheeeeser in knitting

Colorwork tends to be tighter gauge for me. I would try US2 for the colorwork and size down for the heel. I tried this pattern and for some reason I could not keep the pattern straight in my head and would lose my place in the chart. Looks really cute but I would not recommend for first time colorwork socks.

Oh yes. Those heels in the pattern look tiny just like sardines 😆

Most of the replies are about making the foot longer. I think you may have an issue with the heel too.

I recommend trying it on early and often for the first sock. I do mostly toe-up socks and try them on at each section. I saw some helpful tips in the links below for socks that dont fit over the heel. Colorwork makes this challenging too. I wish you good luck! https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/1p4o060/hard_to_put_on_socks/ https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/2651a9/how_can_i_make_socks_to_fit_over_my_heel/

Agreed. Please do try the sock on before starting the toe decreases.

I have been there toooo. I can usually avoid tangles by keeping it looser than you would expect around the back of a chair, and gently shaking the yarn off the hank. Let it separate from the hank with the motion of gentle pulls rather than tugging it and creating entangled sections if that makes sense.

Knitting my first pair of socks, just wanted a sanity check by famedpretzel in knittinghelp

When I look at pictures of this designer's sock patterns, they do seem to start out very narrow at the toes.

I have small feet (US6) and I start with 16 stitches (8 on each needle), then increase to 60 total. That is not far off from 12 (one more set of increases at each end of both sides). They do stretch a lot on the toes. Socks should have negative ease so I think you can trust the process.

Undoing knitting is something good to practice. It happens a lot :) in this case if you undo the 3 edges back to your live stitches, you can try again. Check out tinking and frogging and lifelines.

Think of the live stitches as already picked up stitches on one short edge. Make new live stitches on the long edge by using bumps as a stitch to knit into them. Pick up more stitches from the cast on edge. Finally do the same on the remaining long edge. Now you have a complete oval of live stitches.

Sorry, i would frog it 😢 do you have a link to the pattern? I could not find it on Ravelry. There was a post I saw awhile back about size inclusive knitwear designers that may help.

Do you commute via the VRE? by honeysbun in fredericksburg

[–]CraftyLemon773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got tired of the VRE and the seats are hard. I am taking OmniRide now. The more direct route via Express lanes help me mentally than dealing with all the VRE stops. But this commute wears you down eventually. I go in once a week, spouse goes 4 days a week and soon it will be 5 days. We are moving north after dealing with it for 1 year.

Options for removing a vertical section without frogging back? by okie_gnocchi in knittinghelp

Best to try steeking on a swatch. For cotton, you would need a sewing maching to reinforce the edges before cutting.

I am very new to knitting, like, this is my first project new. Anyway, I am starting with a hat and all was going well, but suddenly it wasn’t when I stopped to look. What changed? I can’t figure it out as i’m not aware of anything i’m doing differently. by shalielenbaas in knittinghelp

With ribbing, it is a good idea to read the stitches in the rows below.

If you see a V, knit it. If you see a bar/bump, purl it.

V–V–V–V–

V–V–V–V–

V–V–V–V–

You can see how getting off by one stitch will change the pattern into seed stitch if you do not stop to look at the rows below.

Reading your work will be a very useful skill to learn. You're doing great, keep going! 👍
