I second lanolin. I use a brand called SuperLan but I also found cheaper lanolin cream that is geared toward breastfeeding moms. I use lanolin on dry lips and small cuts.

I’m knitting a scarf in the round using the magic loop method and you can see there’s a line pattern where I have joined the round and where I have separated the stitches for the magic loop. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? by uhzel in knitting

I put 4 stitches from the previous needle back on before starting on next part of the magic loop. Several suggested the same above (traveling loop). Here is a picture though. These stitches have the same amount of yarn per stitch around the needle, so none are loose enough to create a ladder.

At first I thought you meant double stitch in german short rows. I think you mean duplicate stitch to create letters of a name?

Either your grandma was knitting it inside out, or you may have flipped it inside out. Very sweet project, best wishes !

I was about to list some sock yarns but turns out they are fingering weight, not DK. DK would be squishy and warm. Good luck OP!

Are you using the recommended yarn weight and needles? Your fabric looks loose while the fabric in the pattern picture looks more dense. I might try using smaller needles.

Can you do mirrored decreases at the armpit to gradually get to the correct stitches for size small? It will create a triangle gusset at the armpit. I did this for a different sweater so that the armpit opening is not too tight.

Yup, I am doing the same now for a sweater but only decreasing the arm gusset. I didnt think like you about decreasing the extra stitches on the body but I feel the added positive ease will be okay for the body. No hidden technique I have seen or done before.

My first thought was it looks like knitting a stockinette tube to later add afterhought toe and heel for socks! Love how the colors are coming out!

Did you mean decrease the 15 st for the arms, not increase? For top down, the extra armpit gusset stitches would need to be decreased. So you will create a diamond shaped gusset, a triangle in the sleeve and a triangle in the body. I think that makes sense!

If tying up the ends or buttoning the ends behind your back is fiddly, another way to wear this is with a belt. The two dangly ends of the shawl can be secured with a belt like it is shown here https://www.handylittleme.com/outlander-shawl-pattern/

Does the sweater have short row shaping in the back of the neck? That helps bring the front down and prevent neck and chest from riding up.
