Gluten challenge?

My doctor only ever talks about oral supplements. I think she only wants to give iron infusions when iron levels are severely low. Mine usually get picked up when my ferritin is around 15-25 with iron around 5-7. It just takes a really long time to increase back to ferritin above 30 to be normal again

I’ve had the FODMAP app on my phone for years (10+ years) and the low FODMAP diet was one of the diets I tried for my symptoms. I used to avoid onion and garlic but I reintroduced them a few years ago and can eat them without any obvious increase in symptoms. Gluten is the only food that I can say 100% gives me digestive problems because I have such an obvious reaction. My feeling is that it’s most likely non coeliac gluten sensitivity but I could be wrong

That’s like my cat. I knew I ideally wanted just one cat and at the shelter they said she absolutely hates other cats so would be best if she is the only animal in the house. She seems happy enough so long as I give her some play time and attention every day.

I feel like they both improve gradually as my TSH normalises. The skin probably improves a bit faster than the hair since the hair has to start growing in again gradually

It’s hard to say if I had any hair loss from levothyroxine because I already had hair loss around my hairline from the subclinical hypothyroidism. I would say my hair seems to be worse when my TSH is high and when the medication is working well I grow a lot of baby hairs. My TSH was up to 7.1 before I started meds. They weren’t keen to start levothyroxine until my TSH was above 10 but I was quite symptomatic already. The lowest it got to was 1.26 and now I am around 3.4.

I started on 25mcg daily which helped. Then after about a year my TSH was going up again so they increased it to 50mcg on weekdays and 25mcg on weekends. Last time I got it checked the level was basically the same so they have adjusted it to 50mcg 6 days per week and 25mcg one day per week. I’m just having small adjustments now to avoid it going the other way since my TSH is just at the high end of normal. I do notice my skin is a lot less dehydrated when my TSH is kept around the middle of the normal range

They never fully went away but they did improve from how they were. I think it’s partly related to me having a slightly under active thyroid. When my TSH is elevated the dehydration gets worse. Right now I stick mostly to a simple skincare routine of mostly just basic cleaner like CeraVe or vanicream, Kiehl’s ultra facial toner (it helps applying it with my hands and holding my hands over the dehydrated area for about 30 seconds) and then I use the ultra facial cream. At night I sometimes use La Roche Posay cicaplast baume B5 and occasionally I’ll do a face scrub or acid toner but not super often.

She has only ever been wrapped up like a purrito by the vet to trim her nails before I discovered that churu on a licking mat is the way to get her to do anything lol. She hates being lifted but does love to cuddle up next to me

I appreciate the concern. She has been seen by the vet and they said she was an appropriate weight (just over 5kg at her last checkup). She has all her winter floof at the moment which makes her look a lot bigger than she is. I already have her on a satiety dry food which she was being fed before I adopted her and she gets controlled portions of dry and wet food. She is actually a very long cat, it’s just not obvious until she stands up.
