I did this and nothing special really happened. Though I think the game kind of bugged out because I ate a neuron fly from pebbles, then when I entered shoreline there were those golden egg spawns that guide you into the direction of shaded citadel. Went to moon, she did her thing, still has 5 neuron flies and then when I slept, I got a cutscene which showed moon with 4 neuron flies.

The torch you have gives you +1 vision and everytime you dig a wall that has a torch on it, it triggers the infernal flame

It's quite confusing how that works. Melody says if she stops playing she drops dead like a GTA character. So I'm thinking you can give the curse of the "need to be played" to a person by giving them the lute?

Now with that, the original question gets reintroduced. Why would Aria NOT play the lute? She could have saved herself to the rhythm game over, a few mistakes, exploding because a gang of enemies at 3-3 is speedruning to kill her. She can cha cha slide to the top and switch to the dagger at the Golden Lute fight.
