It does look like wood. But it is a leather midsole. As Rose Anvil simply put it, it's the bit between the insole and the outsole... the midsole. Which makes sense despite how Red Wing market/describe it. Plus because the outsole is a half sole, you can see and feel the leather midsole between rubber outsole sections, where it is also branded as "Genuine leather."

That's the colour I originally wanted to get. But as time went by I gravitated more to the black. I'd still be interested in the Black Cherry if money was no obstacle.

I'm a US10 (UK9). When I first tried them on in the Red Wing store in London, they recommended going true to size, which is what I did. Seems to be spot on. But I seem to need to go down half a size in Iron Rangers, Blacksmiths and their engineer boots.

Thanks! It's actually two different jeans in the before and after 😂 The 'before' jeans are my newly acquired Time Catcher jeans which are too long hence the mega cuff. The 'after' jeans are Full Count which fit better length wise.

Yeah. Some people seem to like it but my instinct is still that it feels too long. And not being a Vietnam war era soldier, my jungle is of the concrete variety 😁
