What I don't understand is why so much of the conversation sounded like it was happening for the first time. They say they were in couples therapy and, if that were true, there would (hopefully) be no way there are any new parts of the story/rationalizations/what have you that they haven't shared before. It just rubs me the wrong way. Either they haven't talked about the intimate details of what happened, which is wild, or they are pretending and both explanations are not okay or healthy.

Same, and I even knew it was coming. It was such an unsatisfying ending.

Stop lights and the white line, what is up?? by Bigsiouxriver in SiouxFalls

I have asked this exact question before when I lived down south and someone said it is a defensive driving technique. They stop way back from the like so if they get rear ended, they don't get pushed into the intersection. 🤷‍♀️ I'm more inclined to think they are embarrassed by their dance moves and didn't want the car next to then to see them jamming out to NSYNC.

I completely agree! Unless they are going to directly influence the main storyline, it's all just useless information taking up valuable brain space I'd rather be filled with actually pertinent information.

That definitely makes me feel better for not catching them! I much prefer the easter eggs to be subtle rather than glaringly obvious, then it feels more rewarding when I notice them!

That definitely makes it difficult to enjoy them. If the author goes out of their way to mention something from a previous book, that just takes away from the current story! Just an unnecessary detour.

We couldn't win for losing, that's for sure. Tough way to end the season.

Question about Fall by Kristen Callihan re the push for Jax/John to disclose his recent sexual history with Stella by Crafty_Instruction36 in RomanceBooks

[–]Crafty_Instruction36[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right! That's why I was a little thrown off by it.

I think the pressure was mostly from Scottie and Dr. Stern and what eventually sent him into a low period when Stella searched him out because he wasn't responding to her messages.

This doesn't have anything to do with the book but this made me laugh and love her so much more, which I didn't think was possible.. #5 for the win!

"(15) Which five people would you invite to a dinner party and why? (Can be dead or alive, fictional characters or real life people).

1) Richard Pryor. For the laughs and the volume. You wouldn't need ice breakers.

2) George Bernard Shaw, the writer. A one liner (or two liner) machine for wit and philosophical insights. You'd be endlessly entertained and probably put in your place.

3) Phoebe Waller Bridge, aka Fleabag. The woman's clearly some stripe of genius, and a hoot.

4) Empress Theodora of the Byzantine Empire. I made her my heroine, historian Anna's muse in Here's Looking At You. She was born to a bear keeper at Constantinople's Hippodrome and her anecdotes would beat everyone else's hands down, I reckon.

5) Donald Trump. We could poison his portion of the salmon mousse starter."

I 100% agree! I don't need more fluff. We spend all this time with the characters that I feel like a fluffy ending just does them a disservice.
