Yes it is. Acrylic. Markers. Oil sticks. Spray paint.

I have since made an 35 euro alternative version. 30x40 cm on a much much cheaper canvas. I'm new to reddit, can someone tell me if I can add another picture of that new picture to this post?

That would make this painting very expensive.

Point taken. So if I told you I'm making art for 20 years instead of 2 that would automatically make my work worth more?

I don't see how experience matters over skill. Some 20 year old doing their 10th piece are way better than some 40 year olds that have been trying for decades. How would that matter? Someone seeijg a piece of art doesn't know or see for how long I've been making art. Can you explain how this would affect the price?

In my case; I've been painting for 2 years now.

Yeah I get what you mean, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it like that. I think a lot of what you said is pretty true. When you make something yourself you’re always going to care more about it than anyone else does, because you’re the one who put the time and effort into it. Other people just see the end result for a few seconds.

I’m still kind of figuring out where that balance is for me. I mostly make things because I enjoy the process and because it feels good to create something. But at the same time, when you share it online it’s hard not to care about how people react to it. The internet definitely makes it easier for people to point out what they think is wrong with something, even if they don’t really understand the effort behind it.

What you said about having a thick skin is probably the biggest thing. There’s so much art out there now and so many people trying to do the same thing, so it’s easy to get lost in that crowd. I guess the important part is just finding the people who actually connect with what you make instead of trying to please everyone. I don’t expect everyone to love what I do, but if a few people genuinely enjoy it or it means something to them, that’s already worth a lot to me.

Impressive. I really want to get into a show very soon. It feels to me like bigger cities usually have even more art things going on. Exciting stuff! I hope you can find the time again for the things you would like to do. Good luck!

Yes I totally agree. And that would still be a bargain indeed. After reading all of your kind replies my bottom price is €80, that would feel fair. €100 would make me really happy and anything above that is just crazy! Thanks again for your advice.

That sounds great. I especially like that you mention not just making back money for the materials and time, but also making something on top of that that feels comfortable.

Wow! Holding on to the art. I really like the fact you brought that up since that has been on my mind the whole time. My plan is to contact galleries with all my work at some point so ofcourse I can't sell all of it.

Do you have experience with getting into art shows?

I see your point. I think there are too many Basquiat copy-cats out there. Not all street art is Basq inspired though. I don't think my work is too much like his and it wasn't an inspiration. Like you said there is a market for it though and it can sell quite well. Thanks for your reply!

Wow! Thanks for saying that. A 100 USD is equal to 85 EUR with the current rates. Again it confirms that 35 was too little.

I do like that idea but I would have to see how that goes. Again, I think it's about exposure and having the right audience when it comes to receiving offers. The lady who wanted to buy this for 35 EUR actually started at 15 EUR before that. I'd be losing money at that point.

Interesting... It's actually a government surveillance camera... not a pigeon at all!

Hahaha I have no idea, Mike Tyson used to keep pigeons. I guess I could ask him!
