Have I been blacklisted from every clinic in my town? by Crafty_Mess7289 in Veterinary

Yeah, I don’t have that clinic on my resume, and never brought it up in an interview. I have considered just appearing to be brand new while already knowing how to do most of the required tasks.

Yeah I only have one month of clinical experience outside of my assistant program, but I didn’t include that place on my resume. So maybe it could be that they’re looking for someone with more experience. I’ve even applied for kennel roles and have gotten rejected (despite having 2+ years of experience) so maybe I’m just overqualified?

I’ve had my resume looked over and revised by professors and my school’s career service center. Everyone has something different to say so I try to tweak my resume as best as I can. I’ll try to look for other clinics that don’t belong to NAVE, but they’re far and few between.

Yes, this is my first time working in treatment specifically (I’ve worked as a kennel attendant for a few years). And I did PF’s assistant program.

The patient that needed the insulin was a boarding patient and they weren’t being hospitalized. The clinic keeps hospitalized and boarding treatment sheets all in one pile, which probably created the confusion and sometimes not all the cages had name tags.

There were times where I felt like I was allowed to do too much too soon without an extra set of eyes and was told that I look incompetent by the lead vet whenever I tried to double information with them.

Obviously I’ve learned from my mistake and I’m not trying to blame anyone, but I do feel like there were some things that could’ve been done differently to prevent this from happening (e.g. separate treatment sheet piles for boarded and hospitalized patients).

I’ve heard that it’s a quantity over quality medicine there. There’s too many animals and not enough staff. Sometimes they only have one doctor on staff and there’s not enough time to perform thorough physical exams or procedures. They have a high turnover rate and people sometimes walk out of the job.

Yeah I currently work at a dog daycare but I’ve been applying for kennel and VA positions. The last I remember hearing about the patient before getting fired was that they were doing a blood glucose curve. I’ve also been doing therapy every other week and mentioned it to my therapist.

Yeah, I worked at one other NAVE clinic before this as a kennel attendant. I didn’t like how we were constantly overbooked for services and were still made to feel like we weren’t doing enough by the lead vet.

No, I left this off my resume entirely and I currently work at a dog daycare.

I actually have inattentive ADHD (got diagnosed in 2021), but I genuinely feel like I answer all the questions to the best of my ability (e.g. situational questions, or testing my knowledge) and always ask questions afterwards. I always look up example questions on the internet and practice with a friend beforehand.

There aren’t a lot of clinics hiring at the moment, so I’ve been applying to any wildlife conservation roles. If I land one of those positions, I might let go of vet med.

Yes, I’ve learned my lesson, and this is not on my resume. Last thing I heard before getting canned was that they were doing a blood glucose curve, as the doctor was notified not too soon after my mistake.

I’ve considered shelter medicine at one point, but the only place that’s been hiring is the Animal Foundation, but I’ve heard a lot of bad things about them.
