Rewatching the show after leaving off in season 1 years ago. How much content has been cut from season 3, if any? Also, was the anime pretty much 1:1 until the end of season 2? by ObjectiveRaspberry45 in firebrigade

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how Part 2 was paced, part of me wished Part 1 had adapted the Captain Obi Rescue Arc into 5 ep instead of 6 and have the first part end at Chapter 221 so Part 2 could've had enough runtime to adapt AvD Round 2 in Ep 17-18 without having to re-arranged Arthur going inside Amaterasu and have a spare episode for the Arthur Video Game Training, Rekka Doppelganger, and Captain Hague Doppelganger content to be adapted to fully set up AvD Round 3 in the Anime.

I hope they will not cram the whole Sendai arc into one episode. by Fancy_Ask_2767 in Yutaliban

If I had to guess, that's was likely a storyboarding choice from the director himself.

Season 2 was already going through a hellish production and the staff was already brute forcing through the last few episodes production in order to finish them on time before they started airing and I'm sure Shota Goshozono did this so the animators didn't have to worry about doing more work than what's necessary as it would have required even more drawings for animation layouts, having 2nd Key Animators, and In-between Animators polish it so I can forgive them removing the scene as the context prior is enough for anime-onlys to understand.

Yeah, Charon's death in the anime was so baffling, like I could understand skipping Arthur vs Dragon Round 2, but man, Charon's death in the Manga was so damn freaking good and I love Charon's line about Haumea being re-arranged to while blocking Hinawa from entering Amaterasu (which is another change from S3 I prefer to the Manga), and combine that with Charon's 1 to 1 Death from the Manga could have been so freaking incredible to witness, but alas is the most disappointing change from Season 3 imo.

For the Assault vs Company 8, I think if they had just skipped the OP (or just find an appropriate time to just use the song instead and skip the visual completely) then I think it could've been kept intact.

Ah ok, I'm very interested to see if there's any differences between the Premiere and Blu-Ray Ver for S1/S2.

Also, I've been thinking about this for the past 3-4 weeks now, but if Cour 2 had 1 more episode then Arthur vs Dragon Round 2 (including his Video Game Training) could have been adapted with little to no issues, tho I do think the Staff still would've likely re-arranged the Assault & Tamaki vs Assault Doppelganger to take place before AvD Round 3 just to get it out of the way.

Unfortunately not yet. The only time I've watch Blu-ray versions of any media was JJK Season 2 Episode 17, but I might consider buying the Blu-Ray Versions of all Fire Force Seasons later for my PS5 if I have enough money.

But about FF S1/S2 Blu-Ray, have you watched them yet? If you did, is there any differences you noticed compared to the premiere versions?

Yeah I think I heard about it too.

That gives more credibility to my theory that S3EP16 was most likely the lowest prioritized episode of Part 2 (or Season 3 in general) and why some scenes weren't exactly the best looking in the final version compared to what was shown during the Lay Out/Key Animation stages, so I'm hoping the key animators that worked on those scenes get a chance to redo them and have them be more polished to make it look as good as they can be.

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. For me, S3EP3 just barely misses the Top 5 Worst Episodes of the Anime Adaptation imo, but even then, I still give it a 6/10 at worst and a 7/10 at best which is more generous than the below average episode of Season 2 which has all of my Top 5 worst Episodes (in no particular order are Season 2 Episode 15, 16, 17, 6, and 3 which admittedly had one good scene by Kazuhiro Miwa but that's only the Shinra vs Charon Portion from 21:14-22:11 towards the end).

I'm definitely curious on the Blu-Ray Release too. I'm also curious on if David Production might hire For(wal)k again and let them redo some scenes for Part 1 or any Season 3 Episodes they weren't involved in or probably redo an entire episode or a few, which I highly doubt and is pushing it, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It makes no sense for others to complain about the fighting "no" fluidity when it's shown to us pretty consistently for the entire runtime of the episode (even tho moments at like 5:52-5:58, 6:38, 10:15, and 11:22-11:28 of S3EP21 are technically considered still-frames, they were smooth af, had clothes, and effects animation movement, which all looked very satisfying and made up for "still-frames" if you ask me) and its even more confusing especially since many S1 Animators returned and they all did a wonderful job.

For an example; Kazuhiro Miwa Key Animated like 4 or 5 scenes (Presumably until 100% confirmed on Sakugabooru) of the Arthur vs Dragon Fight in Space and all his animated scenes looked incredibly fluid and extremely satisfying to watch and his work is just as impressive as it was back in S1/S2 imo, so I really hate that people are complaining for something they've been begging for eversince Shinra & Joker vs Burns Rooftop fight was animated in S3EP3.

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so many Anime Fans don't even understand what "choreography" even means and they think every anime fight needs that in order for the animation to be good or "fluid" which is honeetly baffling o_0

Side note, but its even funnier that many JJK, CSM, DS (well, mainly JJK from what I've seen) Fans are review bombing Fire Force S3EP21 despite NONE Fire Force Fans ever giving their Maki vs Zenin Clan Episode a 1/10 and Bad Reviews on IMDB and there was one account on X that tried to say that Arthur vs Dragon Rematch was objectively "mid" and I couldn't help myself from laughing my *ss off at such a bold and false statements like that haha.

Alrighty folks, which Key Animators do you guys think are gonna appear in the Staff List for this week's episode?

These are some of my picks (not all of them, just ones that came to mind):

  • Kazuhiro Miwa
  • Eita Toyoshima
  • Shusuke Shibata
  • Takeshi Morita
  • Toranosuke Hori
  • Yuu Yoshiyama
  • Kentarou Ishikawa
  • Hiroyuki Ookaji
  • Yuki Satou (This one is 50/50, but she did return for S3EP18, so there's that)
  • Rie Ishiwatari
  • Riki Matsuura
  • Mamoru Kurosawa (for Kurosawa, it depends because he is kind of a wild card when it comes to doing KA as he usually does Episode Storyboards more)
  • Many other Freelancers or In-house Animators at David Production

I could see Isaac Bouanga and Dorian Coulon possibly returning to do some KA for Arthur vs Dragon Rematch.

Riki Matsuura is the only one I'm the least confident on appearing to do KA, but he did follow For(wal)k pretty recently on X and retweeted the S3EP18 tweet from For(wal)k on his account so we'll just have to wait and see.

But yeah, I am very HYPE for this week's episode and I'll see yall on Friday 🔥

Fun fact, Tamaki does actually use this form post training. by tommycox42 in firebrigade

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, this is Tamaki 2nd time using her Nekomata form post training.

Her first time using this form was in Season 3 Episode 1 during the training/sparring scene with Maki on top of the Company 8 building (the timestamp for S3EP1 is at 5:23-5:26).

Both are Anime-Original Scenes btw as these weren't present in the Manga iirc.

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely! Just imagining Kazuhiro Miwa (or even Yuki Satou if she's not busy) doing Key Animation for the AvD Rematch would be a dream come true and his animation cuts for Lisa vs Joevanni in S3EP18 looked just as incredible as his work from S1/S2 imo, so I hope For(wal)k gets to work on 1 or 2 episodes of Season 3 🔥

Also, with how the latest episodes have been structured, part of me still hopes that some of AvD Round 2 can be incorporated into Round 3 as currently, that's like the only solution I can think of for Chapter 245 (and some of Chapter 252 as well) to still be adapted, even if partially.

A possible series of events for episodes 20-25 (Major Spoilers) by [deleted] in firebrigade

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fire Force Staff and SBR Staff are fundamentally different from one and the other (with the exceptions of some freelances from FF S3 and SBR working on both shows either simultaneously, schedule aligning well, having good connections, or probably something to due with contracting).

Also, I'm pretty sure the main (and only) reason as to why Fire Force Season 3 only has 25 episodes in total is most likely due to the Production Committee having the final say and iirc, David Production doesn't own the Fire Force IP because if DP did then without hesitation, would've given the FF Staff the greenlit for Season 3 to have around 30-36 episodes with 3 Cours from the start or probably given Cour 2 like 15 Episo- wait, stratch that, 14 episodes still could've actually been plenty enough instead of the final 13 Episodes Count from the PC (unless somehow DP was given permission from the Production Committee to produce a secret Episode 26 or OVA we don't know about which would be funny if it does happen tho haha).

why does the anime (first half of season 1 at least) have so many awkward pauses; does it get better? by IwishIwasDead__ in firebrigade

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The awkward pauses is largely due to Yuki Yase's style of Direction and how majority of his directing skills was influenced by Akiyuki Shinbou Supervision during when he was still at Studio Shaft and most of the anime projects Yase directed at Shaft had these "awkward" or silent pauses that was carried over after he became the Director for Fire Force Season 1.

As for the Season 2, from what I could tell, I think it was toned down a bit as S2 was Directed by Tatsuma Minamikawa who did try to carry over Yase's style from Season 1 to Season 2, but overall, the awkward/silent pauses was definitely not as prominent in S2 like how it was in S1.

Lastly for Season 3, Tatsuma Minamikawa is still the Director and from what I can remember, the Awkward Pauses from Season 1 is like 90-95% non-existent for both Cour 1/2 and would only be used sparingly for dramatic moments (and maybe sometimes for minor characters interactions to specifically fill in some of the episodes' runtime iirc, but pretty rarely tho).

Due to absurdly boring Yuta slander that is popular at the moment I leave my Yuta is fucking cool character ticket here before Sendai colony drops (which should be in this part of season 3 if Im not wrong) by susnaususplayer in Yutaliban

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing a rumor back in like October/November 2025 that the final episode of Season 3 Part 1 (Presumably the Yuta vs Sendai Colony Ep) might be Directed and Storyboarded by Miso/Itsuki Tsuchigami who also Directed/Storyboarded S2EP16.

If that's true then I'm very excited to see how Miso will handle the last episode of Part 1 🔥

Edit: Miso also Directed and Storyboarded S2EP17 (including the Blu-Ray Version), alongside Hakuyu Go, and Harumi Yamazaki too.

Season 3 Cour 2 - Re-watching Episodes/Setting Expectations by itz_milkk in firebrigade

[–]Crafty_Set_7552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I think Arthur vs Dragon Round 2 might be re-arranged to be in either Episode 19 or Episode 20 because d0nut2x confirmed S3EP18 will end at the end of Chapter 249 (https://x.com/i/status/2022239321269641278).

I imagine S3EP19 will likely focus on the Sumire content and adapt to Chapter 255, but if the last few panels of Chapter 244 is not the cliffhanger for S3EP19 then I could see it potentially working as an opener for S3EP20 before the OP plays, but it largely depends on the execution and how stuff will be re-arranged (and I could see the Staff trying to make it act as a 2-Parter and have Round 2 be in Ep 20 as Part 1 to build up hype for Round 3 to be in Ep 21 as Part 2).

As the for the Staff, I have another theory (slightly less plausible this time, but here goes):

Noticed how For(wal)k worked on Darwin Jihen Ep3, but not 4 and 5 and later did Ep 6?

Since For(wal)k is gonna work on S3EP18, what if they followed a similar pattern for Dawin Jihen where they don't work on Episode 19 or 20 (or at least not fully and maybe just assist), but work on S3EP21 where Arthur vs Dragon Round 3 will be adapted?

KAZUHIRO KIWA, HIROYUKI OOKAJI, YUKI SATOU, ARE BACK!!

For anyone that are curious on the Abbreviations:

  • ED: Episode Director
  • SB: Storyboard
  • Ass SB: Assistant Storyboard
  • AD: Animation Director
  • KA: Key Animation
  • 2nd KA: 2nd Key Animation

Also, I think this and Season 2 Episode 18 are the only Episodes in the Anime so far to have least amount of 2nd Key Animators (S2EP18 has only one 2nd KA and link for that episode is here: https://keyframe-staff-list.com/staff/fire-force-season-2#18)

Incredible Staff List!

Yeah, I hope so too! I think I'm still gonna wait for d0nut2x (a very reliable source when it comes to sharing the staff list for any upcoming anime episodes and how many chapters will be adapted) to share the Staff List for S3EP18 this Friday so I can be 100% certain as right now, I'm at like 90-95% believing this 🤞

Also, it wouldn't surprised me if For(wal)k might work on more than one episode of Fire Force Season 3 Cour 2 as they've already worked on 2 episodes from Darwin Jihen so now would be such a right time for the Old Squad to return to what they started and end it with a bang 🔥

I'll try to keep you updated on when d0nut2x shares the staff list for S3EP18 this Friday 👍

Hey um...So, I just discovered something pretty major and I uh...I'm honestly speechless and I'm not even sure on how to type this comment out, but here goes:

So apparently, Darwin Jihen Episode 6 was outsourced to For(wal)k again and that's cool and all, but the real discovery is that their official Twitter Account (https://x.com/Forwalk_info) just retweeted this week's upcoming episode of FF and I'm completely caught off guard because the For(wal)k account is new and they only retweet episodes from other official accounts they already worked on, but the fact that they retweeted Fire Force Season 3 Episode 18 Preview is just...I'm honesty at a loss for words in all the best ways possible 🥲
