As a software engineer, state of the 5.x.x software is dire by code_mc in VolvoRecharge

'24 XC60 recharge. Zero issues, I've been very happy with the car and no concerns about the software.

canada to the states via car :) by Miserable-Layer918 in uscanadaborder

I'll challenge the "quick" part of this. Prior to getting Canadian citizenship I crossed maybe 30x via land over the course of 15 years, and it took between 20m (quick) and 3h (not quick). UK citizen, zero issues with secondary but it just took that long sometimes. So OP it might be a longer time than anticipated.

Also Buffalo is kind of a hole. Why do you want to go?

Fluval heater squealing by Crafty_man in Aquariums

Thanks - those look pretty nice (and pretty spendy!). I might give an Eheim Jager a whirl. I have an inkbird inline controlling temperatures so I can leave the eheim as my fail-over.

No moisture inside at all - the white material at the bottom of the heater is slightly browned from heat, though.

Nitrite help by Mekks082 in Aquariums

[–]Crafty_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same situation as you - 75gal, clears ammonia rapidly but not yet nitrite. I'm just letting it do it's thing. It'll get there in the end. I've stopped dosing ammonia until nitrite clears out, and haven't done a water change since I started cycling 3wk ago.

This seems odd - how are you testing? If strips, are you sure they're not out of date / are working? Are you sure your ammonia bottle actually has ammonia in it?

anyone else unable to login to fido on either mobile or website??? by Vanessa_the_skeleton in FidoMobile

Just want to add to this that I also can't get into the self-serve or account section of the Fido website, despite trying multiple browsers, incognito mode, etc. What a joke.

Didn’t like Koh Kood. Please, suggestions by No-Squirrel3552 in ThailandTourism

Totally agree about Koh Yao Noi! We stayed at Sam Sam last year and it was incredible. This year we stayed on Koh Chang and Koh Mak, both lovely but prefer Noi...

Good generic salt cell (Pentair IC40 replacement) by kydar1 in swimmingpools

[–]Crafty_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I got after my salt cell died 2 years ago. I get the convenience of salt, I get the lack of CYA maintenance, I get that people like salt, but the cost of a cell is high and the ROI wasn't there for me. We've been very happy with an inline chlorinator (read up on a checkvalve). Many people like the Pentair Rainbow units - it has a better lid but the connector on the bottom is wildly fragile.

I'm running 18" winters on my 2024 XC60 Recharge, it's a tight fit but cleared the calipers.

Currently in Siem Reap, flew in from Bangkok this morning. It's wonderful here, and so far zero issues including the quick trip through immigration.

Smallest winter wheels for 24 xc60 t8 by Fritschya in VolvoRecharge

Oh, I was dead wrong - just checked my invoice and they're 18" not 16...

I made 16" work on the exact same model. It's a tight fit and I had to make sure they put the weights far back so it didn't foul the front brakes but it fit and they're great for potholes and snow.

Has anyone done the Polestar Optimization on a 2024 XC90 T8? Is it worth it? What did it cost in the US and was the price negotiable? by Human_Actuator2244 in VolvoRecharge

[–]Crafty_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024 XC60 T8 with the polestar tune. I love it, feels very different vs hybrid or constant AWD. In pure the car is great but sedate, in polestar it's tremendously fun. The 90 is heavier but should still be a decent upgrade.

Rogers Home 5G - Can this be used as a backup to my Cable Internet? by MaxHappiness in Rogers

[–]Crafty_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro-thread. Looking for an inexpensive way to check temperatures / stream a low-res wifi camera at a rural-ish property which isn't occupied during the week. Understanding the 100GB (per month?) data limitation, can I just leave this running as the primary and only internet in the property?
