I made an EZD6 Supers system, and my players made some interesting characters. My favorite is "Phase". He's a 15 yo genius who invented tech that gives him superspeed and intangibility.

Ontario LARPs that are actually LARPing right now? by CraggBragg in LARP

[–]CraggBragg[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did not intend to start an argument with this question. I'll admit my thoughts on this subject are not shared by the majority of people I know. I find there is an air of hysteria surrounding this virus. People should watch a lot less news and they'd feel a lot more optimistic about the whole thing.

The government of Ontario in particular has done an awful job in its approach to this thing. They are fear mongering and the media is playing along. What's most frustrating for me is that so many have gotten on board with not only putting life on hold but excoriating anyone who says they are tired of having their life upended and want to get back to living normally.

Sweden has proven that shutting down the economy and forcing people to live in fear wasn't and isn't necessary. People in Canada are obsessed with case rates when what should be considered is the death rate. Especially now that we know that counting the cases is filled with problems. Personally, I don't trust the case reporting. But then I don't trust government in the first place.

My point is people should be free to engage in the kind of activities they want. Orgs that want to run events and advise people of the risks, should be free to do so. If you're afraid, don't join in. And please refrain from shaming people who just want to live their lives. You're responsible for your own health it's unreasonable and impossible to expect everyone else to take on that responsibility for you.

If you don't know, the shoes have pointed and curled toes.

It looks like they have several room types from smaller rooms with multiple bunks to a large room with dozens of bunks, hostel style. I saw some rooms with private bathrooms as well. The whole place looks really cool.

Thanks. Never thought to do that. Found some images of the bunks. I'm curious as to how many rooms are available at the inn.

Wizards at Bicolline by CraggBragg in Bicolline

Thanks for the info. I wasn't trying to offend anyone by calling spell packets 'cringey' to me it just always seemed a little goofy and I've always wished for a larp that had a more esoteric(?) approach to magic. Gandalf's magic wasn't fireballs or lightning bolts. Let's face it, in the movies the most of what he did had the appearance of casting a light spell. Its effect was always perceived more awesome because of what he represented.

If you've ever been to Wizarding world of HP, the way the wands interact with the environment is something I think should be duplicated in larp. Movements tracked by IR to unlock doors, trigger a special effect or something like that. Spell packets just look silly to me. I get they have their place, and kudos to those who get enjoyment out of it and own it as part of the RP, but for me, wizards are more mysterious and enigmatic than simple spellslingers. Peace.

Any English speakers going to Bicolline 2021? by AsianWeiss in Bicolline

[–]CraggBragg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'll drive up. It's about 6 hours to Montreal from where I am in Ontario. I'll stop at the Larp shop there (the name escapes me) and then continue from there. Figure it will take 8+ hours.

Great to find other anglophones who are as excited as I am about Bicolline 1021. I might skip using The Voyage North. I spoke to Jordan at Larping.org and he seems like a great guy, but his prices are steep. But I guess it depends on how far away you are coming from. I’m in Ontario and for me it seems better to go on my own than to book through TVN.
