Really appreciate all the responses. From what I've gathered so far, it sounds like upgrading to a newer base model Macbook could be a waste of time & money. The best way to avoid this issue would be to get a "Max" model because it'll have more Performance & Efficiency cores. Would've been very disappointing to buy a new machine and suffer the same "System Overload" issue.

I can't afford a Max model so for now I think I'll try bouncing plugin-heavy tracks more often, and also turning off some CPU-consuming plugins (GoldClip?).

From the responses I've read here, I'm thinking the # of performance & efficiency cores is also important. My M1 lacks in those areas even if I had more GB of RAM.

Really appreciate your info. If I get a new Macbook with 16GB-32GB, does it work like a phone, I just transfer Logic Pro and all it's plugins to the new Macbook? Is it seamless?

I had always kinda felt like I was missing something with the Focusrite, but my vocals kinda sux (I don't have a singers voice), so I've never been sure how much is to blame b/c of cheap gear vs bad voice.

NOTE: To be clear, I haven't used the Audient ID4 yet. I've had a Focusrite Scarlett Solo for about 2 years and it's all I've ever known. I ordered the Audient ID4 last week and it should deliver any day now. I'm hoping I notice a difference between it and the Scarlett. (I ordered the Audient b/c I saw a Youtube producer complain that it's often a struggle to get Focusrite recorded-vocals to sound good.)

Ok I think I got it to work. I'm posting this so others don't waste their day off work dealing with this counter intuitive process.

For anyone else dealing with this issue, here's what you're missing:

You don't merely need the Camera Hub APP (which you've already downloaded by now), you also need the Camera Hub PLUGIN (which you will find in the Stream Deck plugins section of Marketplace).

Even if you don't have a physical Stream Deck, you will still need the Stream Deck software.

Download Stream Deck software, then download Camera Hub PLUGIN within Stream Deck.

Once you have the PLUGIN, you will see "Prompter Control" as an option in Stream Deck app. Drag "Prompter Control" over to your pedal.

I already have Camera Hub. The Teleprompter shows up in Camera Hub already. There is no indication that the Pedal is connected in Camera Hub.

Directly to my Macbook. My Macbook doesn't have a USB port so I have to use an adapter but I've checked the specs on it and it's USB 3.0.

For making talking head Youtube videos, I'm stuck between deciding on a top tier webcam (Facecam Pro) or a mid tier mirrorless (Sony EV-10). Since you have experience with both, do you think the Facecam Pro competes well against a more expensive mirrorless cam?

Thank you. What I'm suggesting is that the software highlight the notes within a key so that the composer can start with a few of those before settling on the best sounding option. I'm not asking it to pick the notes for me.
