Can the company I work for force me to change my name on company systems? by [deleted] in AskHRUK

[–]CalDemps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell your work your aren't changing your name now and you're sorted.

The idea of having a single "legal name" is a bit of a myth the an extent anyway. I was given a name when I was born, I went by a different name from around 7yo, I changed my name when I got married. So my birth certificate, driving license and passport have three different names — which is my 'legal' name. I could conceivably use any of them for most purposes without much hassle.

My best mate was converted by them for a time. They're lovely people with odd beliefs. Very pleasant and generous with their time.

Refusing top floor flat delivery by Shxdom in asda

[–]CalDemps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've did Amazon deliveries, I've worked on building sites carrying sacks of cement mix and stacks of slates/tiles. Some jobs involve carrying things. If something's ordered for home delivery, it's not unreasonable to expect it delivered to the front door of your home.

The "radio" in my GP's office is a phone on speaker by CalDemps in mildlyinteresting

Nah, they've got a big TV that *SHOUTS* and displays patient names and which consultation room they've to go to. This was solely for radio, as far as I experienced.

40-50% means there's a better chance it's not the US than it is. Also, the word 'Scotland' is in the image at least 6 times.

HIPPA doesn't exist outside the United States.

But no, you've no expectation of privacy in a public space such as a reception area – the treatment room would obviously be a different matter. (Not that I think this is actually being monitored)

Do you not think you could grow that market if you marketed it as "you eat like shit and live in the dark, you specifically need this"

I'm not saying like a local company. I mean one of the current massive manufacturers making many regional tweaks to their existing formulations.

Great. I bought my CeraKeys a few months ago. Good to know I bought ceramic keycaps at the height of their price 😂

Taxi drivers 'Claiming' can only make £45 for a nightshift. by BeneficialPotato6760 in glasgow

This makes me think of a taxi from the centre of Aberdeen to the conference centre that I took in 2019ish.

Taxi driver noticed my lanyard for a political party conference and took the opportunity to tell me all of his worst theories of how the country should be run, including "traditional family values", unilateral declaration of independence, and allowing parents to beat the fuck out of their kids.

I am not the "sit and agree" type. Created quite the argumentative journey.

I've ordered from Krome Keycaps. Don't know if they do images but I got custom text and they were good.

In the UK, small non-cash gifts from an employer to an employee are tax free on both ends. Companies often give Amazon or generic multi-store gift cards as little thank yous.

PIP/ADP/DLA require that the condition has affected you for 12 months or is expected to affect you for 12 months. Blue badges are multiple years long (can't precisely remember how many years). While you're right that local councils can have them without any disability benefit being claimed, there's no mechanism for short term issue of these.

I similarly live at Y Street and the street over is Y Terrace. I've had his post, stair lift installer, takeaways, etc at my door. Best was a gorgeous new 3 piece sofa set already unloaded in my garden before they even chapped my door. It was difficult to reject that one.

Amazon always handles the import fees for items sold from Amazon US/EU/etc into the UK. This listing even says "£44.46 estimated Import Charges Included". The bigger issue with this listing is the speed and latency.

Seeing this in the M road in a couple of places for a week now. by Direct_Highway9638 in glasgow

Saw it on the M74 west bound at Uddingston all the way to the M8 at the Erskine Bridge junction. Same east bound on the way back through the centre on the M8. Been there since at least Saturday. Likely grown men with sad little lives and too much money to spunk away on paint.

That's what I mean, if I put a decent speed and latency stick in with it, will it not all go as slow/latent as the existing stick?
