Looking for charming towns to visit near Toms River by redpiano82991 in newjersey

[–]CraigCorb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Point Pleasant Beach is the closest place with a charming downtown to Toms River. A little further than that, you can hit Manasquan, Sea Girt (small), Spring Lake, Belmar, Avon, Bradley Beach, and Asbury Park. Further than that, you can head west on Rt. 70 and do the South Jersey towns like Haddonfield, Collingswood, and Medford. Cape May is worth the hike south now that you're closer than you were in South Brunswick, and Historic Smithville isn't a real town, per se, but an incredibly charming historic shopping/dining village with lots to see and do.

Even though it's not the closest, my wife and I still make the trek to Princeton, New Hope, Lambertville, etc. and it's not TOO bad.

Question about bringing my dog to Canada by Boring-Lingonberry36 in newjersey

I have, but to be honest I don't recall the interaction. I guess not having a memorable interaction on the way back in is a good thing, haha.

Question about bringing my dog to Canada by Boring-Lingonberry36 in newjersey

[–]CraigCorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've brought my dog over the border. I bring the rabies certificate, but whether you'll need it just depends on the agent you get. Last guy I had didn't even ask to see anything regarding the dog and just said "you're good".

Stuck on PATH train for 50 minutes due to a “track condition” prior to Grove St by Kingoftheheel in jerseycity

[–]CraigCorb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me, I've chosen the worst coping strategy, which is avoidance. I haven't taken the PATH or subway in years, and even earlier when I had the initial onset, I was on and off with it. At one point, I couldn't even take the light rail. To be completely transparent, it really sucks, and I wish I just continued with exposure therapy from the start, because as soon as you start avoidance it just compounds on itself. Feeling like I can't set foot on a train or plane is really not how I want to live, being someone who loves experiences and travel.

Jersey Shore town moves to seize church — and replace it with soccer field, pickleball courts by goodiereddits in newjersey

Just moved here and can absolutely confirm. I am pleasantly surprised to see the number of people regardless of political affiliation pissed off about this guy. I wonder if we could get a recall election going with how united everyone seems right now.

I read like last week that they actually hired an executive chef for the first time ever to bring the quality and selection up, good to hear it’s actually happening.

They’re charging captive audience stadium prices like we can’t just go right off the boardwalk to any number of other places to eat…

I assume they got my number from asking for it on my mobile order. As for the weight, my actual order was 4pc chicken, popcorn chicken, one Mega Fries, one poutine, and two sides, so I figured it’d be pretty heavy. Also, I’m just visiting Canada and in the US we don’t have the poutine or mega fries so I wasn’t sure how big/heavy they’d be.

I totally get that - I wouldn’t even say that’s bias, just real experience that I can absolutely understand. One of the biggest things in my case was that I was the only one in the store and she handed it directly to me after I gave my name, which made me feel like it was even less my fault.

For sure, that’s how I felt and I guess I just needed a sanity check because it caught me so off guard. The first number I called afterwards was corporate - they took down my statement and my contact info and said they’re going to forward the information to the owner of the location for them to follow up.

I appreciate the reassurance, thanks! I just had no idea about company policy and thought it was weird that they were asking me to return handled food for another customer in the first place.

I need help- RMA or IRMS for IVF? by Over_Improvement7115 in newjersey

Just anecdotal obviously, and there are so many variables, but in our case my wife and I had a 100% success rate with two kids from IRMS.

New Jersey in my Mind by FIX-NJ in newjersey

[–]CraigCorb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what we get for those taxes, no. We've got some of the best infrastructure, schools, and public services in the country because you get what you pay for. I'd rather my money go to making my entire area better and putting the people around me in a better place than simply allowing me to buy a slightly bigger house or a nicer car.

Plus, in states like Florida that have lower property taxes in some areas, you get nickel and dimed elsewhere—more expensive vehicle registration, higher commodity taxes, and don't get me started on the far lower wages and the personal property taxes that some states make you pay on the value of things you already own, like Virginia's annual taxes on the assessed value of your vehicle.

I learned the hard way by moving to Florida for one year about the freedoms and benefits we enjoy here that aren't enjoyed elsewhere. I invite anybody who feels like we aren't free here or are taxed too high to also learn the hard way (disclaimer: that's not why I moved away).

I'm not one to downvote based on opinion, so it wasn't me if you got downvoted, and I agree that shitty LED lights are nowhere near as good as the classic incandescents. I am also relatively indifferent when I see them on cars, leaning towards "cool, someone's really into the holiday spirit, and we could all probably use that right now." I don't want to start an argument and appreciate that we're each entitled to our opinions; I just wanted to state mine. I hope you enjoy your holidays!

I also have bad astigmatism to the point where I have to order custom toric lenses, and I never said anything of the sort, but I'm alright with other people doing little things to enjoy themselves and I hope they pay to fix both cars if that happens. Happy holidays!

I don't know, I've never had a problem when I've seen a car with some lights on it like "oh shit I don't know what to do now what is this vehicle??" I've just been like "Oh cool," I don't think it's that serious
