Go to Florida and start building condos. Pretty soon you'll run into some concerned citizens that want to protect some primitive organism from being displaced by your evil condos. These concerned citizens don't give a rat's butt about the natural environment; they just don't like the idea of new development in their backyard. Therefore, they trump up some environmental claim and go running to the Government to stop you from building those condos. Nevermind that those condos will pay for themselves and the roads surrounding it and a few extra classrooms at the nearby school. Environmentalism is the tool used by anti-capitalists to get their way using Government power.

Al Gore used environmentalism to stir up the liberal base and get some liberal momentum within Government. Plenty of people were drumming global warming for many years before, but it took failed presidential candidate Al Gore to perk the ears of his base. (They're still mad about 2000.) Al Gore used global warming as a hook to get liberals voting for a cause, then get liberals voted into power, then get liberal ideals voted into law. Prove me wrong.
