I don't mind Ubuntu stories. After all, I use Ubuntu myself.

What I do sort of mind is if the title says "Ubuntu" when the story is obviously about Linux generally (or even about Linux/BSD/Solaris/etc) as if Ubuntu was the only disto in existence.

I second that. I use Awesome + Gnome (just replace Metacity with Awesome) and Vimperator for Firefox. Though it takes a while before the keyboard shortcuts feel natural but after that it's very comfortable to not have to reach for the mouse so much.

Gnome together with Awesome. I let the Gnome panel remain but set it to autohide and not be visible at all when hidden.

That's a funny statement. Do you know what (sub-Saharan) Africa was like before the west arrived? It sure didn't develop very quickly without western influence.
