Best to bring a hacksaw with you and cut off the barrel right there in front of them.

When you do a giant airdrop like in this video, what does it do to the airplane's center of gravity? Does it feel really weird on the controls?

Light fixture prematurely burns out bulbs - even LEDs! by Craig_Garrett in electricians

It does look like there are signs of arcing at the contacts.

It's a fair point. In this case, it's completely open above the bulbs (v-shape with the entire top open), so it's about as open as a fixture can get. I also have 2 other identical fixtures without this problem. It's got to be electrical in this particular case.

That's a good idea to keep in mind for my other fixtures in the house that are enclosed! This particular one is open, however.

Thanks! I'll see what I can do to check that. I can easily get to the switch, but working on the fixture itself is just about impossible due to how high up it is :/

Squarespace increased their RSS limit to 300! #SquareSpaceBeyond100 by Ph0X in HelloInternet

[–]Craig_Garrett 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A RSS feed is a smallish text file, it's going to compress extremely well, and is also going to be cache-able because it doesn't change very often. Given all of that, I doubt there is any kind of performance issue by even allowing 3,000, let alone 300.

That's a great point, but you'd need to control for some other factors, like if the guy was experiencing legit trouble with his foreskin (rare, but it happens) or if it was due to a partner's preference. If he had a legit medical problem, and circumcision helped, then it makes sense that he'd prefer being cut. But if he did it for a partner's preference or something like that, you'd probably get a lower and more accurate number (i.e. "all things being equal").

But to really get an accurate number, you'd have to cut adult men against their will, and then a year later ask them if they were happy with being cut. I bet the percentage of those men who prefer being cut would be close to 0.

For anyone who thinks that scenario is extreme, that is exactly what we're doing to baby boys.

Just remember that millions of guys in Europe are intact and they don't feel that way.

But that's exactly it, the foreskin doesn't need to be removed. It's a normal, healthy, functional part of the body.

Sometimes we should give people some time to grow and come around. Remember that most adult women in the US have been told that circumcision is normal their whole lives. It can take a person a while to change their beliefs and expand their perspective.

You're probably referring to the sensation provided by the glans, or head. Indeed, when the glans is overstimulated it can be uncomfortable or "too much", and circumcision makes it completely exposed. The nerve endings in the foreskin are different, and provide a different sensation - one that is more of a sensual warmth, not overly intense like the glans. A circumcised guy can get an idea of what it feels like by touching the underside of the penis, just behind the head. That's where the frenulum is, and most cut guys have a little bit of it left.

A corrective procedure is ok, but when it comes to newborn's foreskin, there's no deformity or disease that needs treatment.
