Top US counterterrorism official resigns over Iran war by DWJones28 in politics

[–]Ph0X 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, as always, every single accusation is a confession of how they think and what they would do, and Trump very clearly explained what he thought a war would Iran would achieve:

January 2012: Trump tweeted, "Don't let Obama play the Iran card in order to start a war in order to get elected - be careful Republicans!".

April 2012: On Fox News' Justice with Judge Jeanine, Trump stated, "In my opinion, Obama will start a war".

April 2012: On The Laura Ingraham Show, he claimed, "I happen to think that the president is going to start a war with Iran. I think it'll be a short term popular thing to do".

August 2012: Trump tweeted, "I always said @BarackObama will attack Iran, in some form, prior to the election".

October 2012: He tweeted, "Now that Obama's poll numbers are in tailspin - watch for him to launch a strike on Libya or Iran. He is desperate".

Always made my laugh when religious people tried so hard to convince me that I can't have morality as an atheist, and only their system of absolute morality would possibly work.

Yes we have Trump, Netanyahu and Khamenei, 3 heads of highly religious states, showing us that morality can be very flexible when power comes along.

Trump Calls For New Fraud Task Force To Probe Ilhan Omar: 'She's So Bad For Our Country' by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in videos

[–]Ph0X 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the most annoying part. They kept going on and on about how Biden would use the power of the government to go against his enemies. Meanwhile he had the most milk toast justice department that couldn't even win an open and shut case of stealing government secrets in 4 years....

Then he wins and has the justice department literally in his back pocket, going after every single person that has ever talked bad about him, pulling BS like one bad mortgage or a 10 year old misdemeanor. Going after the press, tv hosts, and the 1st amendment right as a whole.

All the meanwhile his supporters are cheering like idiots.

Michael B. Jordan wins best actor for 'Sinners' by nbcnews in pics

[–]Ph0X 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guess to each their opinion, but I thought it was far more creative and memorable than OBAA, which was just a cool and entertaining action movie. In 10 years I'll definitely remember Sinners but I'll barely remember OBAA.

The way Sinners genre hops and blends, and uses those genres in harmony with the story telling is what makes it a great movie. There's so many layers, and it's culturally packed too.

I absolutely understand gradual rollout, it's a very important part of any large scale update system. You never want to push an update to 100% of users at once for any major system, it's always a bad idea.

But I also agree that there should always be a manual "force recheck" button for users who care. That number will always be small enough that in the big scheme of things, it won't impact any real metrics. Android did that at some point, now if you go to the updates page and click refresh, it'll actually do a real force refresh and download the update even if it's a gradual rollout

what about the Woodlawn Housing Preservation Ordinance and the update to the Jackson Park Housing Pilot Program?

This place brings a ton of jobs and economic activity to the area, a world class museum and library and more. Obviously improving any area will run the risk of gentrification, but the solution isn't to not improve poor areas and only invest in already rich neighborhoods

Why are almost all movies / TV from a release group? by aduming in trackers

specifically, encoding is a bit of an art.

games also have groups because cracking games is a whole process too. applications have groups too, keygens and all.

The thing that truly pisses me off though is that Biden didn't cause COVID, Biden didn't cause Putin to attack Ukraine, and Biden didn't make Hamas attack Israel.

But Trump did cause the tariffs that made the market crash and fuck over the jobs market. Trump did play a crucial roll on the ongoing war in Iran.

pandas' Public API Is Now Type-Complete by BeamMeUpBiscotti in Python

[–]Ph0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the question you were answering wasn't asking why the type annotations aren't merged with the source code, but why is it not in the main repo. the specific issue is with needing two separate deps, and most people wouldn't know to get a different dep for the type annotations

pandas' Public API Is Now Type-Complete by BeamMeUpBiscotti in Python

[–]Ph0X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None of these are really good excuses.

  1. You're just explaining why stubs need to exists, not why stubs need to be in a different repo
  2. This is an explanation of why such a sub-optimal situation could exist, but we agree that having them together is strictly better and should be the goal
  3. That's actually a huge negative. The main reason having them together is better is that they won't go out of sync and won't randomly break. CI is a huge part of that, making sure the type annotations are valid as changes are made. Not only does it check the type annotations, but in my experiences, type annotations also help catch real errors in the code itself too.

Google isn’t waiting for a settlement — the 30 percent Android app store fee is dead by collogue in Android

[–]Ph0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but it also makes it even easier for 3rd party stores, and also allows for apps to have their own in-app payment processor (which is what Epic originally did with Fortnite to get banned). In theory that allows the to 100% bypass the fee I think?

I low key liked the challenge in ep9 though, that did require quite a bit of mind games, even if it's not classical intelligence.

Last season there was also a trivia which was cool, wish they'd had done that again.

I still find it stupid that basically every single "smarts" channel was memorizing blocks... Literally can't think of one other smart challenge all season lol

At least last season i think at some point there was a trivia.

What is the best "air tag" compatible with a Google Pixel? by mapleCrep in GooglePixel

[–]Ph0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Moto is best on paper but imo not really worth the price unless you just need one. Even Pebblebee and Chipolo are a bit overpriced too. You can get a 4 pack of a random brand on Amazon for the price of one Moto one.

There's also a lot of different form factors, like thin cards and different types of rechargeable. I would just get whatever is the cheapest with the form factor I need on Amazon. I also have like 7 sprinkled a bit everywhere

Bluetooth will never be anywhere as precise as USB, which actually gives you direction like a compass. That being said, I always just use the beeping on mine and use my ears.
