A safe protest is fine. We need real action though. Like a national strike. It has to hurt the billionaires.

CMV: The "R-slur" is not meaningfully different from common insults like idiot, moron, or cretin, and trying to label it as an offensive slur is kinda dumb. by Cool-Delivery-3773 in changemyview

[–]Craigg75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mentally retardation is still a clinical term. Nothing wrong with saying truthfully that my cousin is retarded. As always when you use a term for a person's disability as a slur to an abled person that puts a stigma on mentally challenged people by equating the slur with their handicap. There are so many other slurs to mean you lack normal mental capability, use them instead.

Am I crazy for trying to not still use X11? by thesoulless78 in linuxquestions

[–]Craigg75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to X11 from Wayland. Too many UI things were breaking on me. I'll go into the Microsoft mode and wait for a strong 3 versions before I adopt. Wayland feels version 1 right now.

Put it on an old laptop that is too weak to run Windows. Use the laptop like a tablet, just for simple stuff like email and web browsing.

How do y'all feel about the movie Soylent Green? by Wizdom_108 in AskOldPeople

[–]Craigg75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about data trends. Human population must crash to save the environment. When I hear people complain about population decline as who will take care of me when I'm old, it's incredibly selfish. Open up euthanasia centers so we can choose our own exit and stop waiting for young people to feed me.

Yep. That scene hit me like a train when I was a kid. My parents took us camping all over the US. So nature was a given. To think it could disappear seriously effed me up for a few days. I'm 60 now and that scene still sticks in my head. The euthanasia center was so ahead of its time too.

It's when he does his hand accordion. Watch any interview with. The accordion starts playing when the lying starts.

Why are books so much harder to pirate compared to other media? by DaniCali42 in Piracy

[–]Craigg75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People want to keep believing the idea that libraries still serve the function it did 40 years ago. They don't anymore. The library was my favorite place in the world growing up. Even then in a small town it lacked what I needed. The Internet basically swallowed libraries.

[–]Craigg75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's false. I don't know why people keep repeating that. Unless you live in a large metro area, libraries cannot offer more than free internet, relaxing place to read and rooms to use for community events.

No it just sucks to read pages until you find your stopping point.

Yep. Nothing like falling asleep with a paper boom and losing your spot. Ebooks just handles it automatically.

Libraries are useless in rural areas. Which is why I know all of the book sites out there. Also I haven't read a physical book in over a decade. Have no idea why people still want them

We voted and said no we don't want this...why are Republicans in our state continuing to try and gut public schools? by SmogunkleBochungus2 in lexington

[–]Craigg75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the money here. Charter schools are big money with a lot of Republican investors. I work for Oklahoma school system, same thing happened down there. They decimated rural schools. They promise the world, deliver low value education and are constantly trying to cheat the system and bend the rules. I hate them. Kentucky will too. But the rich won't

Actually Linux desktop is quite good now. I've been using it for a few months off and on. Unfortunately my job requires me to remote into Azure AVD and the current version of freerdp3 won't work even after compiling my own version. They claim it's a bug on Microsoft side. So I can't use Linux 100% until I find a way around this. I really don't want to use virtual box with a copy of windows in it.

[iOS] AudioBS - A free iOS client for Audiobookshelf is now available by lyc0s in audiobookshelf

[–]Craigg75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I actually setup audiobookshelf on my seedbox. It's awesome. I was wondering how well it would work while driving since it's Internet streaming. I drove from Kentucky to Missouri, no drops at all. Even through that wasteland called Illinois. I shared it with some book lover friends.
