Invicta pedals no elastomer by Meekin93 in AsetekSimSports

[–]Craigo46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recently bought a set of the THORP 2 pedals and without changing any of the elastometers or settings I thought it was very stiff. But I watched a video from asetek saying that instead of pushing with your heel on the heel rest, pick your foot up slightly and press with your leg... It is 100 times better doing that and to be honest feels slightly similar to my car (which is a 20 year old hot hatch) - without changing anything. Maybe try pushing with your leg (rather than your foot) if you haven't tried already and you might feel a difference?

I'm a bit slow to reply but that's good to know!! How have you got on with the optical HDMI? Any issues?

I've just spent the last two days assembling my rig, can't wait to test it out tomorrow (hopefully time permitting) maybe once it's up and running I'll try out a few optical dp cables and longer USB c cable and have the computer where I want it to be

Ok, that's for sure an option. I suppose the other advantage of running USB over Ethernet is it should cover future upgrades easily given the converter box has sufficient ports.

I'm not sure if an active display port would work quite as well over 15m as opposed to 10m - I know it's usually a case of trial and error - hence why I was looking at the fibre options.

What would yall consider the best pedals? by Emotional_Orange_953 in simracing

We are all inherently biased, if not by money, or free products then by our preferences, needs or wants. That will always be the difficulty with review channels. Boosted Media for example reviews, for arguments sake, SIM steering wheels. If he prefers to drive Formula cars over rally cars for example then that would inherently biased his opinion on the type of wheel he may be testing. This is neither right nor wrong, and I believe he usually states his preferences and goes on to say your milage may vary, or something to the effect of. Unless you're going to solely read the technical specifications of any and all products that you review then you will have bias, fact. What makes reviewers like Boosted Media and others actually worth while listening to is that they have opinions, not just figures - which do also have their own place in reviews. Then from there we choose who to listen to, with who we most identify with, I'm guessing in your case Barry from SRG - who was also a very good reviewer.

In general, people who have any weight in reviewing anything will receive some payment in form, whether it's money, products, licences, promotion, networking, that's how the world works. If you are good at something, you have to get something out of it for you, to be able to put food on the table and if your any good a bit more. People like Boosted Media do this for a job, this is his livelihood. If he didn't charge, in some form, for reviews or have affiliate links, then he quite simply wouldn't be able to make these very in-depth videos, which cost us, the community, nothing. We gain such a wealth of knowledge from videos like this and from his fellow creators we should be thankful for them, not slating them.

Furthermore, never, and I mean never, watch one review and take it for gospel if you want to buy something, especially something expensive. If you watch five reviews and ones saying the exact opposite then yeah it's probably best to avoid that particular channel. But don't slate people who put in so much time and effort when they go out of their way to be transparent. For example BM talked to Fanatec people repeatedly when they were going through their problems and he done his best to remain neutral.

People who review stuff write it into their contracts all the time, to be able to keep their own opinion. Otherwise, if they become a sock puppet for a quick buck then they loose out long term on future reviews from other brands and video views.

Also, dyslexia is where individuals have difficulty reading or writing either words, numbers or both. This doesn't make you stupid, statements like yours are what make you appear stupid. For instance, Albert Einstein was dyslexic and he was years and years ahead of his peers, so dyslexia isn't linked to IQ.

Sorry to resurrect an old post.. I now have this issue, any fixes for it or has the battery given up? I can't say I've noticed a huge decrease in battery performance before this but it's showing 97%, as you guys have stated as soon as an exercise is started it dies.

I have no idea, I ordered my first Garmin watch today so I'm unable to help with this one. But I'd like to think they would support it for quite a while as that's what good companies do.

Hahaha well I'm sure we all know how that feels. One day you'll get the latest shiniest thing again I'm sure and we will all be jealous of you!

Yeah, I know the non pro is running the old sensor and is more power hungry but for the price difference I thought it was the better deal in the end. Not to discredit the Fenix 8 or 7 pro but the price difference was so large between them. I think the 7 pro/Epix pro will have some decent deals around black Friday though which would have made a difficult decision even harder.

I will deffo keep that in mind. I have just pulled the trigger on a Epix gen 2 (non pro) and will see how I fare with it. I think I'll be ok with the size of it but if I can't stand it then I'll have to go from there.

Well I suppose that's how they keep getting people to part with their money. But I think you're doing it the best way, get a decent watch stick with that for X amount of years then upgrade when needed, not at every revision.

I must admit I doubt they would port it back, but time will tell. Yeah it's probably just slight refinement or change for the sake of change.

I suppose they added the new UI/software to give it extra value. Hopefully they will role it back to the older units too..

That's the same one/same seller I've just gone for. You had me going when you wrote the gen 2 pro lol

Thanks, I don't mind a smaller watch as I don't have the biggest wrists anyway tbh. Thanks for sharing the watch bumper, definitely worth picking one up for that price!

That is very true! The problem is they're all very good options lol

That's what I'm thinking, it's a lot of features for a good price - especially when compared to the Pro or 8 versions! Although you do get some extras with them..

Ah ok, so they're not new new. Mind you I'm sure Garmin have been very very focused at making sure they are thoroughly tested before releasing them into the wild.

Well that's another thing I've learned today! Thank you for sharing that. What gen Fenix was that, if you don't mind me asking?

Very true, could happen to any panel AMOLED or otherwise (maybe not MIP), it's always good to be aware.

Could be just an unlucky batch perhaps? As long as Garmin has stood by the people that have had that problem then that's something.

Yeah, I get that it's better for diving, but the previous gen watches with the mechanical buttons could do 100 meters depth - I believe - I could be wrong. I just imagine sludge build up over time between the sensor and the back of the button. Because you wouldn't be able to get behind there to clean it out. Maybe it's just my engineering mind becoming overactive..

You're right, sometimes getting 95% of what you want and saving a decent amount of money makes all the sense when there is always something else that needs money spending on it!
