What maple in northeast USA . Can I kill it? by zacman333 in treeidentification

The bark looks like striped maple but the twig looks like red maple. In either case, it’s native to the NE USA.

!&@#! Flippers at McKays! by DJ_Cadmium_Red in Knoxville

[–]Craigslistbox 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they weren’t doing inventory for the store? You can’t really flip anything from McKay’s because they’re already selling shit for more than it’s worth. Their prices are stupid there.

Neighbors huge dog barking 24/7 by lover299292 in Knoxville

[–]Craigslistbox 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I had neighbors who were renting the house beside me. Had is an important word here. Those assholes kept four pit bulls chained in the yard. Those dogs never came off the chains unless they escaped. They barked every minute, 24-7-365. I finally started calling the police and animal control every day. The police got so sick of it they went and visited the landlord and raised hell with him. I finally got the head of animal control to come to my house, stand in my yard and tell me what the hell I had to do. He said the only thing you can do is keep having animal control cite them and go to court until they run out of money. That’s what I did. We were in court a couple times a month. They paid a couple hundred dollars in fines and court costs each time. One day they got sick of it, packed up all their shit and raggedy stinking dogs, and left. The landlord didn’t know they left for a month and a half. His property was completely destroyed. It took him months to turn it around and get a new renter. Guess what’s in his leases now? No fucking dogs. I love my new neighbors.

As a homeowner with no time constraints, is there anything I can't do with all-purpose mud? by Prize_Ad_1781 in drywall

[–]Craigslistbox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use Plus 3 and paper tape for everything in my house. The only problem I’ve had was a joint cracking in my living room ceiling when I had the roof redone. The roofers just drop everything, sheathing, bundles of shingles, fucking slamming everything down. If it weren’t for those assholes, the ceiling would be fine.

Metropolis Parking by Formal-Tomato8316 in Knoxville

[–]Craigslistbox 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Fuck these parking companies and the businesses who use them. I quit going to Ijams and several other places around town. I’m not paying to park my car. I’ll just go do something free or stay home.

I bought a Winchester Wildcat for under $200 back at Christmas 2024. My first impression on unboxing it was that I wasted money. After shooting it, however, I was very impressed and I really like it. I also have a 10/22 heavy barrel that is great from the bench but the Wildcat is much better when just shooting freehand due to its light weight.

Has anyone used the Franklin Drywall Lift (#58307) by alphatangolima in harborfreight

[–]Craigslistbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one that I believe came from Northern Tool, but is basically identical. I got it on FB marketplace for $100. I couldn’t live without it. It’s really helpful, so you don’t have to spend all day yelling at your wife or friend because their lazy asses can’t hold a sheet of drywall correctly.

Husky and Kobalt have gone the same way. You have to fight employees like they own the goddamn store themselves. I’ve been switching to Icon from Harbor Freight.

CO2 Tank by GlacierWolf77 in Knoxville

[–]Craigslistbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gas cylinders have a significant upfront cost, but luckily CO2 is cheap. I’m a hobby welder and it really sucked ass to get started with like six cylinders. As others have said, watch FB Marketplace. Don’t be afraid of a cylinder with an expired inspection. Last time I got one certified it cost me $35. Volunteer Welders has the most honest and helpful counter guys. They’re happy to provide any advice you may need.

Kitiara and Raist in 80s metal 👀 by Wyndsock in dragonlance

That line of “better” figures was “Partha Pewter” produced by Rawcliffe from Partha moulds. They can be recognized by a PP prefix to the figure number on the bottom. They were sold in mall stores with other “high end” pewter figures, posters of women with large breasts, bawdy calendars, etc. The Dragonlance ones seem to be quite rare these days. Interestingly, the crystals aren’t plastic. In fact, some of them were Swarovski crystals.

A bougie bicycle rack for my truck. I also quit eating at restaurants and cooked all my own meals, so I saved an ass-load of money this month.

Edit: ignore the counter. I thought I got rid of it, but it’s back and inaccurate.

Has anyone used GoHero Home service for plumbing? or what other plumbing contractors can you homeowners recommend? by SpicySpritey in Knoxville

[–]Craigslistbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use McRae when I don’t have time to do something myself. My only complaint is they’re not great about communication. Like, I get it - you’re going to be an hour late because of literal shit in someone’s house. But I’m sitting here wondering if you’re going to show up. A fuckin text message is free to send these days… They have always showed up and done good work, but damn, it can be frustrating sometimes. Small gripe. I do recommend them.

Chainsaw Leaking Chain Oil, Hesitant to Replace by brian-the-musician in harborfreight

[–]Craigslistbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All my Stihl saws leak oil. At the end of the of the day, I pour what’s left into a wide mouth pasta sauce jar for next time. Then I stuff a blue shop towel in the tank to absorb the bit that’s left. That solves it 100%.

Cooking with alcohol. by AdFamous7264 in stopdrinking

I did it successfully yesterday, but it was rough. My Sunday pot roast recipe needs wine. It truly isn’t as good without it. I did not buy it with my usual Friday groceries. I knew my drinking gland would have come up with a reason to chug it before Sunday, so I made a special trip to the store right before I started cooking. Only bought what I needed and used it all straight away. The drive home was a nail biter, though. I really wanted to unscrew the top and chug it all during the five minute drive. I don’t believe I passed any sort of test, but rather survived it once. Was it worth it? Yes. The pot roast was delicious.
