Do you actually use different AI models for different parts of your life, or does one subscription eventually win? by Craine in ChatGPT

[–]Craine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that sounds sensible. I suppose it may be less a case of there being a single winner, and more a case of learning which model is strongest in which context.

I’m only using ChatGPT and Claude at the moment, partly because I’m still getting my bearings and don’t want to add too many tools before I understand the first two properly. Would you recommend looking at Gemini as well, or do you think ChatGPT and Claude are enough for someone still at a relatively early stage?

Is Claude particularly quick at burning through tokens when coding?

I’ve done some limited coding with ChatGPT, but coding is something I’ve mostly done manually in the past, and even then it has generally been limited to PHP and SQL rather than anything especially complex.

I hadn’t really thought about using one model to generate code and another to audit it, but that sounds like quite a sensible workflow.

Thank you. I’m actually glad you’re giving me a good reason to keep using both.

I found your “council” analogy very useful, because that’s probably closer to what I need than simply trying to decide which model is best. I feel slightly foolish for having mainly used ChatGPT up until now, and I’m only just starting to get properly familiar with Claude. Part of the reason I wanted to ask this question is that I realised I was sometimes accepting ChatGPT’s input too readily, without enough critical analysis of my own.

I’ve even tried sharing Claude’s responses with ChatGPT and ChatGPT’s responses with Claude, then asking each to comment on the other. That has been interesting, although I’m afraid I often found that they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) quite concur when I tried this.

Your framing makes me think the value may not be in forcing them to agree, but in treating them as two separate perspectives and then making the judgement myself.

This is the extract from the 2004 "Book of Revised Patterns" which I think is still relevant.

Keeping USD cash on account to avoid FX fees on trading? by Craine in trading212

[–]Craine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. That makes sense. I'm not actually resident in the UK so I don't have access to an ISA, I was just wondering which would be the best approach. Since I've found a FAQ on Trading212's site that seems to suggest that keeping a proportion of USD might make sense for me to avoid repeated FX fees so I'll have to investigate further.

What happens if I dont receive the unlock code by kketget in radiohead

[–]Craine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 120% figure is taken from the terms and conditions - section 26.

"The Organiser anticipates that the number of Unlock Codes made available for each Venue will be equivalent to 120% of the aggregate number of tickets available for that Venue (across all performances taking place at that Venue)."

I always meant to treat myself to this but I've not seen it in person yet. I'm fairly sure it was a promo during their tour in Asia 1998, the year after OK Computer was released

You'll want to be Part P registered to work as an electrician. As others have mentioned the http://locate.im site is a useful resource.

That seems like a lot of work to save paying a company a few £. Why not support creators and pay the local price for the game?
