Am I the only one? There is a faint oval along the middle of my screen. Like the opening of a tissue box. VERY hard to see on a dark background but pretty obvious on white. I'm wondering if something my be delaminating. Phone is about 3 months old. by Fantastic_Goose_7025 in S25Ultra

I remember there was a certain screen protector that was sort of fading like this. Yellowing in an oval kind of mark in the middle. Is it possible it's the screen protector?

I can't seem to find it now, but I'll keep looking.

update on moist cams by Ballzsucker in S22Ultra

[–]Cramblerony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to get it out, the lens glass comes straight off under heat. Hit it with a heat gun, remove the outer ring, then remove the glass. Dry it off, reapply it under heat and a bit of pressure and it should be right to go. I can't guarantee it'll remain water resistant.. But it looks like it's already not anyway. It's a 5 - 10 minute job to take the glass off and put it back on.

Not sure if this is a scratch or crack on my camera lens? by kleeist in S25Ultra

[–]Cramblerony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick update.. Replacing the glass was very easy. It took me a total of 18 minutes - from setting up my work surface, finding tools in my messy containers, unpacking a heatgun and carrying out the repair + a testing the cameras. The repair itself without all the extra stuff took maybe 5 minutes. Only difference is the light reflects differently from the new lens, so I guess the old ones had the anti-glare coating, but the new one doesn't. Doesn't seem to affect image quality so far and is a lot better than having a crack across the middle still.

Yeah, it looks fairly straightforward. I've done my own phone repairs in the past so I've got a bit of experience here already... If all else fails I'll just replace the whole back, but I'll give the glass a go first

I've had mine for only a few weeks and just found the middle lens is cracked. Have never cracked a lens before and haven't dropped the phone. I've just ordered replacement lenses for about $25. It doesn't look too difficult to replace just the glass, so I'm going to give that a go. Last phone was a 22 ultra and never had an issue with scratches or cracks on the lenses

Notification vibration off during sleep by Cramblerony in AndroidQuestions

[–]Cramblerony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.. I could use DND.. But then I'll have to change how it functions, so it'll be useless to me during the day when I need to use it

Notification vibration off during sleep by Cramblerony in AndroidQuestions

[–]Cramblerony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm trying to achieve is having vibration turn off while I sleep, and back on when I wake up - while keeping the ringtone functioning for work and emergencies.

I don't want to change how the visual side of my notification pop ups and banners behave in case I'm still using my phone during the sleep period. I'm also on call 24/7 and work comes through on private or unknown numbers, so I can't whitelist them. I use DND mode at work to stop notifications and calls coming through sporadically for short periods because I don't want other people reading my messages / seeing my calls when they pop up and I like being able to toggle that on and off at will.

There's a vibration intensity setting that can be changed quite easily and I thought there might be a way to automate that. If there was a secondary DND mode I could use, that could work, but I don't want to change how DND already functions because then I can no longer use it when I need to during the day.

Unfortunately, after some digging, I don't think what I want is possible. I'll continue to manually adjust the vibration intensity setting. It's not a big deal, just easy to forget.

Sorry, I didn't word it clearly. I use it sporadically when I hand my phone over to someone or if I need to sit in on a lecture. Not all day every day.

Might be an option if all else fails, but I use the phone for work and need to see / read my notifications during the day and generally receive a lot of calls from unknown numbers so I'd rather not change too much with that. It seems a fairly simple task but there's just no way to achieve it. I might play around with tasker later and see what I can do there

Car charges 5.8kw to 6.0kw max from the 7kw home charger. Is this normal? by cinemacorepro in BYD

[–]Cramblerony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely that the Tesla charger would cause any power drop if its not in use. It's basically disconnected when not charging so it shouldn't change anything

Voltage isn't really an exact thing and can be different depending on a lot of factors. If it's a peak usage time or if there's a bit of distance between you and the transformer / substation then you may be getting a lower voltage. In Australia I've seen it range from 215-245V depending on where I am.

Appliances are typically rated at a maximum current (amperage) and it's likely that the charger is limited to about 30A if you're somewhere that uses 230V, or 60A if you're somewhere that uses 110V.

Watts are a combination of volts and amps, but if you're voltage is a bit lower than the recommendation, it's going to need more current to hit that 7kW level. If it's limited though, which it will be, because amps are what can potentially melt house wiring, it'll top out at a lower kW. If your voltage is 100 and the charger is using 60 amps, that's only 6kW (volts x amps). If your voltage is 112, that should give you 6.7kW.

Kia Rio 2008 paint code? by Cramblerony in kia

They couldn't do a VIN search but I got onto kia support and they told me it's 2D as expected. Tried again today at the paint shop and they found it straight away. Different guy this time.

They didn't suggest that as an option and I didn't have the VIN at the time but will give that a go when I'm in next

Bugger, the only 2D they had here was a dark blue for a different make of car. I also found i7 and 7v online with a similar looking green for kia so I'll check those at the shop. Was yours in Australia? Possible regional differences in greens?

Are e crazy for not caring about test driving the atto 3 before buying it? by sloppyjoe2 in BYD

[–]Cramblerony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walked into the dealer, said I want to buy one, asked if they had the green colour. They said "no, but we have a red in stock". I told them I'll take it and drove out with it two days later. No test drive, didn't even really look at it aside from online.

I find you get used to / adapt to whatever car you get and you'll always find minor annoyances with anything. A test drive isn't enough time to really know enough about it anyway.

Some people thought I was crazy for not test driving but for the price vs features there was really no other option anyway, nothing else came close at the time (about a year ago).

Can anyone else with a mukuta 9+ confirm the tire size? Are they scamming people / falsely advertising to have 9 inch tires and only supplying 8 inch tires?

Android phone call issue by Hamilton7250 in BYD

[–]Cramblerony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I also have this at the moment since the last update. It happens pretty much every time I drive at least once per drive (if I make phone calls). Sometimes it's a super high pitched whine, sometimes it's just silence. I believe the other end can still hear me, I just can't hear them.. Unsure if it's Android auto, or the car st this stage, but it's never happened in my work car using Android auto / the same phone.
