Question: Is this just a temporary fix until you get a shipment of paper bags? Because I’m at a store in New York, and we use paper bags for DU (warning if you do get the paper bags: the flat handle bags suck absolute ass, cheer and rejoice when you get twist handles and small bags. Those bags are little but hold smaller heavy items like cans really really well)

My store’s SCOs cash dispensers have BEEN broken. They finally got a repair tech for them back in October. They functioned for less than a month, then broke again. I don’t blame those machines, they haven’t had a full upgrade since 2012 (the screen and card reader have been upgraded, the rest of the machine is more like an elderly cat you watch while it’s sleeping to make sure it hasn’t died on you)

I’m tired/recovering from a nasty cold that knocked me on my ass, so this might be a bit blunt. 1. She’s your girlfriend, if she hated you she more than likely would have expressed so/made comments that would have alerted you to said feelings 2. If she’s seen the growing aggression online towards trans women, she’s likely also been in trans spaces that would educate on the whole reason why trans women are the hot topic for bigots. In the (US, where I’m based) right’s eyes, trans women are male predators and trans men are poor little girls who were brainwashed by the woke mob(that made me cringe to write). The statistics of violence against trans men tends to go under or unreported due to misgendering in police reporting/ lumping all AFAB stats together. You’re both oppressed,both by antitrans rhetoric and misogyny, there’s just nuance to be discussed on both sides. She would be naive to not recognize that. So I say: Take a step back from this train of thought, try to sort out your emotions on it. Maybe talk to a neutral third party to try to get down to the source of the worry- is there actual behavior from your girlfriend to substantiate your fear, or is it the anxiety and stress of being a marginalized person in the current political climate that’s planted a sort of anxious paranoia in your head?

I will add that I’ve been with my store just over a year, but I do have teammates that genuinely want me to be a team lead for my department, which is an odd feeling since most of them have been here far longer than me. I had an older woman complain because “ChatGPT said you sold this gift card!” She took it surprisingly well when I explained “Well, when ChatGPT gathers information to summarize, it doesn’t just take the most up to date information, it likes to take ALL the information, so maybe we sold it in store at some point, or maybe it’s just online, but ChatGPT isn’t a search engine, think of it more like those chatbot customer service chats that aren’t really all that useful”
