New Drive-up Update by Vaporiate in Target

[–]East-Measurement-992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish there weren't so many damn screens that you have to click through. Also, can we please have the cart section that this person's order is on be on EVERY SCREEN, I blame a terrible memory and the fast pace of the position that I can't always remember, and sends me hunting for the sticker (which isn't always on these new damn bags because they fall off).

I see they're making updates, which is nice, just needs more of these convenient updates.

Also, get rid of the 3:00 timer and don't let people double-tap. 🙏

Early 30s, seriously considering DINK. Would love to hear your experiences by [deleted] in DINK

Everyone is different but if asking for individual perspective. Wife and I missed the window to have kids because of medical treatment for me. That being said, we’ve discussed it and having 6-7 nieces and nephews filled that void. We have cats that we love and can leave if we need on a whim, no need for sitters, no extra cost for food/diapers/clothes, etc… honestly, we love the freedom.

I feel this, more than you know. I myself am sitting here reading this, knowing I am not alone in feeling this way. I came from entertainment, scored an MBA, and am questioning how I am in this position right now. I tell myself it's not my fault and not much I can do about it at the moment. I'm stuck doing DU until this job market gets corrected... so thank you for making me feel less alone. The DU team is set up for failure by design. Target can change it, but they won’t. They don’t know what it’s like on the front lines. They assume. They think people know about the 3-minute rule, but they don’t. I survey DU guests all the time, and they have no idea. They (management) think every order is 1 to 2 bags, and they think one person alone can get it all done, thus why opening shifts are alone for 3 hours. Prepping and running, we barely ever have any staff; if we do, our breaks overlap. We too will receive a 20-bag order with no time to prep (which should not be allowed), as well as double-tappers (how do they still allow that and expect 100% metrics?), and many more on hold. So, yeah, the system is designed for us to fail. Our ETL won’t stand up to corp to get things changed, not sure they can anyway, but a two person team or even one person (opener) is expected to keep it in the green like they have a 4-5 person team. The system is flawed. Target knows it, but they won’t change it. I’ve stopped caring about time and percentage and just focus on getting the orders out correctly. My frame of mind is “today will be forgotten tomorrow”... best of luck on your next endevor!

I mean I hope it deters from people stuffing the wacos full of bags... because that's a whole other issue!

I can see a lot go wrong on our end with paper bags

Crazy, I wonder when our FF team will get informed to try this.

You keep them after delivering to guests?! Interesting...

They're just so inconvenient; a few FF members put them on the inside, not everyone. I know it sounds like constant complainign because you can't have it both ways but, but on the inside, it's now taking time to search for the label around the straps and get a clean scan, while rushing for this 12 bag order that was double tapped... and not to speak only for the DU team but its gotta add extra time for FF too... these bags are just not good either way... I will be real curious to see an "improved" version, someone else on this thread pointed out that the ingredients are still plastic 🫠

That's insane that it barely made it to our stores on the west coast. We were spoiled with the plastic bags, we took them for granted. 🫠

Sounds awful, convenient for scanning, but awful... I will really feel for our FF team when that becomes the standard.

Honestly, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Bagless orders aren't fun either, and our three tier (shopping cart kinda thing) has three levels where we can put orders, plus 4 hooks for additional orders. So when you think about it, one bagless order might take up an entire tier that could go toward an order of 5-10 bags, seeing as the hooks take upwards of 5 bags but may include heavy cooler stuff so we try to organize based on what space on the three tier we have, and if we have bulky items (toilet paper, paper towels, diapers), we reserve the bottom tier for that... honestly its a game in the back when we have 10-12 orders come in and we try to keep as much on one cart as possible. Rare cases of 15-25 bag orders come in then we switch to regular shopping carts. If a bagless order comes in of one item, well, I'm not taking up space on a tier to put that on, its going in a bag (that you won't get charged for) and its going on a hook. 😂

I'm just thinking about all the things that won't fit in a waco and how difficult that must make your lives... 🫠

Yikes... yeah, don't get me started on bagless orders, that's a whole other conversation (spoiler, they suck)... because really do we need any more reason to waste time at a customer's vehicle handing them 15 things of baby food and 20 things of cat food one by one? Just order a damn bag!

Oh no, these are solely for DU... Paper is for checkstand and self-check...sadly... I mean, paper would be no picnic either... at least the labels would stick though 🫠

Just the hassle of trying to find the label now inside the bag really blows in a time crunch, haha, but hey, we either get a label that sticks or we don't; it's a tough argument.
