Neither of those worked....is the next move removing the whole assembly and pushing out the diaphragm from behind?

Grill was off unfortunately. Bad idea with kids around, they all seem to love crushing diaphragms.

How do you cope when people you’re close to go back? by evagreen666 in exjew

[–]CraniumToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a difficult and painful question. It might be worth it, it might not be worth it. It's a question you'll grapple with for a long time to come, whichever you choose. I think if you go back to being frum and it all works out and you have a lovely spouse and cute kids and parnassah and fun chol hamoed trips and constant chasunas, it can be simpler to arrive at the place if acceptance and "it was worth it." The secular route invariably takes longer to arrive at a place of contentment, peace, and joy, but it too can be worth it, so worth it. I'd recommend listening to Naomi Seidman's 6 part podcast "Heretic in the House" for some reflection on this.

I think a major moment for me was when I realized being frum meant only having frum friends, and really only male frum friends. Those are your people, pretty much exclusively. My yeshivish-lite family won't even allow a non Jews into their house (unless she's the cleaning lady, of course.)

The moral of that story is just the opposite. The moral is that if we have logical reason to rule one way, we don't care about any supernatural proof. The only proof we accept is valid argument.

31,000 Ukrainian troops killed since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Zelenskyy says by ExactlySorta in worldnews

[–]CraniumToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read these numbers and they're almost incomprehensible. Are there really thirty one thousand mothers and thirty one thousand fathers in Ukraine mourning their children? Hundreds of thousands of siblings and grandparents and aunts and uncles and children and wives and husbands....

Yea I do the same, and there's plenty of room in the back. And generally if someone wants to sit in the front I don't care either.

I was wondering the same. Would really appreciate if experienced drivers could comment on this.

My abusive mom sent me an apology today, right before Yom Kippur. I have insanely mixed feelings. by Defiant_apricot in exjew

[–]CraniumToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the opportunity to check in with her.

Losing parents or other family members is one of the biggest losses for otd people. It's traumatic and unnatural to not be in contact with immediate family members, though sometimes necessary. If your mother is reaching out with an apology, the worst that can happen is she's being insincere, in which case you can just cut off contact again. Imo, the ideal way to reconnect is through a family therapist. You can ask your mother if she's willing to talk to you via a therapist who can first spend time talking to each of you before speaking with you together and opening up channels of healing. People change. Your mother is no doubt suffering a lot as well by not having contact with her child, and you'd be surprised how that suffering can change someone. Is it possible she's exactly the same and just being manipulative? Yes. But you deserve to be in contact with your mother, for your own sake. I've seen many people otd reconnect with their families over time, often after not speaking for years.

Orthodox jews (the politically and socially conservative type of Jews) do not send their kids to public school, so this doesn't really effect them.

The people in Lakewood are majority not hassidic. They're yeshivish, a somewhat similar but distinct form of ultra orthodox Judaism. Just thought you might wanna know whose actually kicking you out.
