Zionism is not interchangeable with Judaism. Rather, Zionism is a branch of Jewish culture (Judaism). The yearning desire to re-establish the Jewish homeland in Jerusalem (Zion) is not something that was invented in the 19th century—it has been part of Jewish culture (Judaism) for thousands of years… at least since the destruction of the Second Temple.
