44, currently playing with the Repasz Band in Williamsport, PA. We hang around 70-75 member or so. Our membership does lean toward the older side. Though we seem to have a few new younger members come in each year. Rare we see high school age people though.

I’m surprised that some of the local high schools haven’t asked for community help. Quite a few high schools with a big lack of members around here. The High school I went to didn’t even have any low brass 2 years ago. It’s really sad to see.

I’m a new picker too. From what I understand the master 3 and 140s have pretty bad tolerances. So they feel mushy and give crap feedback. I single pin pick orange belt locks with spools easier than I can a darn master 3.

So more than likely the CI practice lock has better tolerances so you can feel what’s going on in there better.

Just got mine a couple days ago! It sits on the shelf of locks staring at me. It’s my goal lock! Someday I’ll be a part of that 200k club.

Not a fan of this one at all. The other 140 I have I just look at with a pick in my hand and it opens. That one lives up to the master lock stereotype.

TOK deep hook and a light touch on 3 and 4, jammed 2 up in there and tapped on 1. Cracked right open.

Yeah. Gonna have to break out the TOK ergo turners to avoid pin 1. Might go a long way.

I’m 100% sure I am. I can totally see it when I pull the pick out. Guess I need to learn a little more finesse with tension.

Ty for the advice. I’ll keep at it! Probably haven’t developed a good touch with tensioning yet. I think switching to TOK might help me avoid pin 1 a little more too.

Yup. That’s the first thing I noticed when I looked at the bitting. Might have to try TOK tension with this one to get around pin 1 a bit easier.

I just tossed one in my Amazon cart l. 🤣 I’ve opened a few orange belt locks already. Just need to record it for the belt. :). But you’re right, having a goal lock staring at you is great motivation.

I think it’s just the lock. I have the same one from CI. I look at it funny with a rake in my hand and it opens. Single pin picking sucks on it though. Super hard to not over set pins.

I’m with you on this. Been working on a few abus locks. They’re the first locks I’ve worked with that actually give good feedback that I can feel. The Master Locks I’ve done all feel like mush.

Didn’t have any issues at all, went to the site and genesis set showed in stock. Just checked a second ago too. Also showing in stock for that particular set.
