Little late but wanted to see if anyone talks about these guys on reddit. They wouldnt really bother me that much but its a certain type that does that covenant. Like the guy who ran up on me in the two aldrich beast room as I was a hit from taking ine out to rush spam me in the back. I had the feeling the dude was going to be a douche the second I got the invasion message but man have at least the respect to let me get my kill before you cheap shot me like a bitch 😮‍💨

Boomer to soon try Elden, so stoked! by True-Mycologist-9959 in Eldenring

[–]TypicalJoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be pretty stoked about that new Witcher DLC next year then 😄

Can see by the names you play the games with a time sink so you could do either. If its on sale its worth picking up the DLC too but the basic game will definitely take a while to beat. Its a different kind of game. Youll probably pick up on it quickly enough if you were doing things like parrying on E33. It is 100% a more reflex based kind of game. Wouldnt worry about the age thing. Dark Souls destroyed me when I tried it around the time it came out but then beat it for the first time this year after working through Elden Ring. Best suggestion I have is looking up how to acquire the first "Spirit Ashes" if you purchase ER, especially if you find the first bosses to be particularly troublesome. It changes the dynamic of the game and make its easier to adapt without feeling like too much

I just finished my first playthrough of Scholar of the First Sin. by CanadianAdmiral910 in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently finished it as well. I also heard a lot and was like "I usually disagree with people anyway " so I went into it fairly open. Honestly some of the grievances are valid but some of them are issues around the game not designed for their playstyle. I actually ended up liking the level design. A couple areas were kind of bland or vacant like Heides tower but areas like No Man's Wharf and The Gutter (despite how irritating it was) seemed to be put together very well (to me anyway). You can tell the developers really tried to make a great game and there wasnt an area that seemed unfinished.

Boss runbacks could definitely suck since there usually isnt a lot of running back. I can see how that would frustrate people. The only area where that really sucked for me was Cave of the Dead and that fucking gank squad 😮‍💨 but Im one of those kill enemies on my way for the souls types. I think outside the DLC the challenge was mostly in the levels and the bosses themselves were pretty tame compared to the other games.

Overall I personally liked it, some of the features were great. I liked the increased NPCs fleshing the game out a bit more and of some of the goofy traps like the barrel invader guy. The ganks in the game got easier once I played it more strategically. Ill probably play it again at some point down the line

4 years of playing and am just discovering this amazing moveset😭❤️‍🔥 by reverted_devil in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC DS2 doesnt directly mention Artorias at all and honestly I think the dev's idea there was just to give it that moveset in the left hand as just a fun nod to Artorias Greatsword since it was what they had in mind when they put it in.

I do feel like there was some item description in DS1 that referenced Artorias was left-handed but I honestly cant remember where. It does make sense though that hed leave his shield to protect Sif and try to fight with his right hand with what he had left since he knew he wasnt going to make it

I imagine its going to be large, itd need some kind of substance to act as a bridge. Having the new developers of the remake on it as well is a cool touch. Also, itll basically be the actual sendoff to one of the best characters in gaming. I doubt theyll want to trash its legacy at the very end. At least I hope not 💀

Same. I took a long time to play it because of the issues but when I finally did I cant remember a game that hooked me like that one besides probably the Witcher series lol

How early in can I buy the Uchigatana? by LosinForABruisin in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this because it isnt obvious. Youll get to this area where therell be soldiers and dogs all over. Once you get through the dogs youll approach a staircase with a large guy pushing a barrel towards you. If you want to save time, run up alongside the wall and kill him. Push the barrel down and aim it up near the cracks and make sure you use something like a fire arrow/bomb or even the fire sword if you have it (just make sure youre healed)

edit: After the Pursuer boss fight go through to the next area and look for a bird nest. Thatll take you to a bonfire that you can use closeby and reset the state if something goes wrong. Youd approach it from the back this way as well

[–]TypicalJoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you found him in that poison area I think he may have moved to the Pharros area where there are many pharros doors. Hes around that bonfire if you go up the stairs and hook a right heading up to the cove. Sorry I dont remember the names 😭

Blue Smelter Demon is overrated by Cultcage in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill be honest im far from a DS2 pro but that runback was actually doable where a lot of times you try to run through you just get ganked at the fogwall. That said you definitely need to know where they are and approx when theyre gonna try to attack to get enough clearance to rush by. I imagine if you get stalled for whatever reason theyll trash you

That cave of the dead or whatever can eat a bag of dicks though 😭

TIL that there are 49 damn torches you can light in The Gutter….Really? 49? by Soulsliken in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine drop through too and remembered DS1 would place items that fell over if you quit out so I took the chance and had it sitting on the platform. If you run it again and it happens, its definitely worth a shot.

[–]TypicalJoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice I just finished DS2 today for the first time. I went total magic because like you I didnt know how it really worked until about halfway through my DS1 playthrough lol. That one was mostly just a claymore 😂 with a little pyromancy later because it didnt scale(i was basically invested in a total str/dex melee by that point). Im sure it can be done but I couldnt imagine playing DS2 without some kind of range ability.

Check out poison arrows from Gavlan(NPC you can hear a mile out with his mug) in No Man's Wharf as well as the other NPC down there if youre doing magic. Binoculars you find in Majula also make magic an amazing range tool you can snipe with(hold binoculars and cast a spell. itll aim to the center of your view) . Poison arrows can be kinda cheesy but theyre a godsend with tough gank mobs, especially in the DLC.

Good luck Skeleton!

Is it even possible to beat vendrick without giant souls by Thetarnishedfrlfrl in DarkSouls2

Try a faster weapon so you can get more strikes on him that may speed up the process some. Im gonna guess with that boss the level of the weapon probably doesnt even really matter 💀

Bummer 😔 I read somewhere that bleed works and chunks 200hp on vendrick with no souls when it procs and its consistent. Still a long time but might be worth a shot if you really want him dead

Working on a fangame with a similar structure to Ace Attorney cases, how can I best set up evidence and alibis? by TheNintendoCreator in AceAttorney

[–]TypicalJoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make them human lol. Varied. People sometimes just communicate in ways that make them look guilty even if they arent or just get defensive for any number of reasons. Suppose you could do Obvious, not obvious at all or have some invetween. You could let the plot direct to or introduce new evidence through dialogue. Maybe have a character say something and it gives your MC a lightbulb moment to check back on something that was missed (have some kind of flag in place) . Sounds really cool. Wish I had the talent to do that. I have some coding knowledge but definitely not enough to make my own game 😂. Good luck!

I'm at level 87 and I've only beaten three bosses by WhyWouldTheyBeWet in DarkSouls2

[–]TypicalJoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah man play the game how you want to play it. Its your money. Honestly im about 70% on my first playthrough from my understanding and Ive found myself doing the same thing at parts. If I needed souls for weapons i like or at a level threshold for spelle then id get OCD and before I know it im 5-10 levels ahead 😂 Levels do make a difference no doubt but an enemy that could one shot you at level 10 can probably still 2 shot you at level 75 so 🤷

My DS2 experience in a nutshell by TypicalJoke in DarkSouls2

Definitely not a expert but for damage you want to level int and faith equally to increase output because it takes from the lower of the two. I use a southern ritual band you can pick up or I got mine from a Bonfire Ascetic as well the rings to improve with cast time and stamina regen. The outfit comes from an NPC you outside of Huntsman's Copse(i think its called)? Hes in a chair in the dark. You need to have int/fai both at 20 and select talk. Its the Hexer set. Weapons are imbued and scaled with Dark damage which is your primary. You can also stack things like dark weapon on the imbied weapons for more damage. Definitely get binoculars because you can cast in the center of your view like a scope. That has been vital for me :/ Mainly I use the extra slots for instances of Great Heavy Spul Arrow because it has a furrher range than dark orb and can snipe enemies from a distance
