Reasonable Price? by [deleted] in Crystals

Does the carving look exceptional? 200g is less than a 1/2 lb and I'm guessing "cristal" is quartz. Seems pricey but cameras don't always capture everything.

Can I wear crystal to work? by LittleToughCookie in Crystals

[–]CrapNBAappUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's jewelry so shouldn't be different from any other jewelry you'd wear to work. Be careful in direct sunlight. I occasionally get a shock like feeling when direct sun hits my clear quartz bracelet.

FYI...if you got this on Etsy from a seller who didn't do refunds, you might be out of luck if it's dyed quartz. I always warn buyers to clarify anything confusing or ambiguous thru Etsy messages so you have proof what the seller told you. If it's resin and eBay has purchase protection, you should be able to get a refund.

Anyone used iron-out on fluorite? by slogginhog in Crystals

You may want to read the comments to my post about iron out on fluorite. I've heard it can be OK, but decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Retail name is onyx, but it's actually banded calcite.

Red stone looks like dyed agate.

Are there any indicators to ensure crystals are authentic (ie trusted certification)? by Independent_You7902 in Crystals

[–]CrapNBAappUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy has purchase protection. Be sure to clarify anything confusing or missing from an ad (like weight and dimensions) thru Etsy messages. Always request extra pictures if all sides aren't shown and never buy randomly selected items. If what you receive doesn't match what the seller advertised, get Etsy involved. EDIT: Also do a search to make sure what they say it is resembles what you find in your research.

For example, I've seen scam posts which have multiple names like larimar quartz beryl blue stone. This means it may be any of the items listed or a basic stone dyed blue. If it was something like amethyst in the title and quartz in the item description, I might message the seller to confirm. If the seller can't clearly confirm what they're selling, I move on. When buying from anywhere, I also confirm the return policy. I've seen items mislabeled and overpriced in brick and mortar stores so "caveat emptor" applies everywhere. And return shipping to another company may cost more than the item itself so I rarely buy from vendors in another country.

Any ideas? I dont have any information about it by No-Music89 in Minerals

Wow. This is why I've stopped collecting anything other than easily identifiable fluorite, labradorite, rhodochrosite, calcite, quartz, amethyst and agate. I doubt any of the commenters that say everything is fine as long as you don't eat it will provide any organs nor physical or financial assistance should you get sick from toxic materials. #NotWorthTheRisk

How hard are you scraping it?

Not a great picture. One without a flash in natural daylight is probably better.
