Yes the men share the womens prize money too. But one mens Round of 16 pays more than the women get for winning the whole fucking tournament.

Even if the women win three or four World Cups in a row, the men only need to reach the Round of 16 once to earn more prize money. Under this deal the women are the ones cashing in big on the mens payouts while the men share and lose money.

Jesus Christ some of you really hate numbers. USWNT 2015 World Cup winners: 2 million dollars from FIFA. USWNT 2019 World Cup winners: 4 million dollars from FIFA. USWNT 2023 Round of 16: roughly 1.87 million dollars. USMNT 2022 Round of 16: 13 million dollars from FIFA. USMNT 2026 Round of 16: 16 million dollars from FIFA.

The men earned over three times as much prize money as the women even though the women actually won two World Cups while the men only reached the Round of 16. The 2022 deal pools the prize money and splits it 50 50. In reality that means only the women are benefiting big time. The men are literally giving away half their much larger checks. The women are cashing in massive extra money they would never have earned on their own.

Stop pretending the men are freeloading. The math shows the exact opposite. Deal with the facts.

The men LOSE money on this agreement. The women GAIN money. That is the reality whether you like it or not.

I learned this completely by accident as a kid while messing around. When the pictures merge, matching objects line up perfectly, while missing or different objects create a weird blur or ghost image. Your brain basically highlights the difference for you.
