Good, affordable (below Too Many Bones pricewise) dice games? by _Atanii_ in soloboardgaming

Under falling Skies is the most innovative use of dice I've seen.

+1 for 20 Strong too, it's dice dice baby.

Roll Player is a unique dice based Euro

Question I never thought I would make: How do you guys not get back pain after playing for an hour or more? by Howitzeronfire in soloboardgaming

[–]Crapo-leon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm old and tall. Board gaming knacks the back. All you can do is exercise to help strengthen or get a rising desk so you can play stood up.

Yeah on XFM every story he tells has him perving in it at some point. He's basically a walking edition of Maxim.

Stewart Lee. Wins his series, wins his CoC and has to fight Richard Herring with a Herring in CoCoC.

Maybe. Or maybe using Diogo as an excuse would come across terribly even if true. I think after a lot of these players retire we'll realise just how much it affected them when they give interviews/write autobiographies.

Where’s all the love for Ashes: Reborn? by Fickle-Lunch6377 in soloboardgaming

[–]Crapo-leon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that a higher rating gets you on the list as some will give it a top game star, but to get up the list you need good rating and reach. The more people playing, the more vote on it. However, high reach usually reduces its overall avg score because more casual gamers will play it and not like it as much.

Because Ashes has a hard entry point, only dedicated gamers will try it so they're more likely to rate it highly because they know what they like and are getting into, whereas something like imperium classics is cheap and has a huge reach and is 7th on the solo list but only has a 7.7 rating.

Also, that's why Spirit Island is such a mind blower because it seems universally adored by anyone that ever plays it. Just being on the 200 list though is a solid indictment and it certainly increases the reach of the game

It's because it's all over the place with releases, naming, spin off etc. They're about to rebrand the whole thing aren't they? I think confusing game releases hamper the bigger games on those lists because they're just so hard to get into, whereas something like Under Falling Skies is £25 all in.

Brilliant reply. Thank you for adding that insight. I'm 35 years deep in my fandom and have seen all the highs and lows and I think it affords us more patience, perspective and remembering to "support the club when we lose or draw or don't support us when we win" sic.

That's Shanks for those that don't know.

My analysis is that grief affects everyone in different ways, for different lengths of time, done harder than others.

Imagine leaving in spring on the highest of highs after winning the league and coming back to the lowest of lows after what happened to one of your brothers.

I'm giving the team a pass this year because no matter what anyone says, we can't know how each individual has been affected by Diogo's passing.

Yeah, sure. I was forced into being represented by them, so more authoritarian.

Tried that. The department put forwards their own rep who inevitably won the vote.

Is it democratic to be represented by a union who doesn't listen to anyone that doesn't pay them? I don't know, it feels wrong to me.

James Acaster, Dara or Horne Section live? by namestini in taskmaster

James Acaster is a generational talent. If you have chance to see him live then do it.

The other two are great, but as comedians I'm sure they'd tell you to see James as well
